It’s autumn in the Wasatch Front! 21 by URBANA, one of our past projects, is a 126-unit building with 136 parking stalls in the podium. The completion required the demolition of four structures, timely coordination due to the surrounding boulevards, and careful consideration of the buildings just feet away.

You might have noticed a new addition to Salt Lake City’s skyline at our Foothill Village redevelopment project. This 136-foot crane is assisting our teams in installing the monumental staircase and steel structure for the future open-air plaza within the mall. We’d like to give a shout-out to Bronson Crane and Wagstaff Crane & Rigging for their safe installation of this new crane.

This summer, Lehi City welcomed ten new retail spaces to its commercial sector between View 21 and Cold Springs Retail Plazas. The first of the projects, View 21, is located on 2100 North and features five retail spaces. The building has already welcomed a Wingstop and Little Caesars Pizza. The property has two drive-through lanes, one of which will be used by a future tenant. The second, Cold Springs, is located within minutes of View 21 on Redwood Road. It features five retail spaces between two buildings. A children’s art studio occupies the middle space. Like View 21, Cold Springs also has two drive-through lanes and attractive landscaping. Congratulations to our team and the owner, Gardner Group, on this important delivery in the community.

Almost exactly one year out from the delivery of phase one, a Zwick Construction team is excited to turn over the second and final phase of the Lewis Landing Industrial Park in Lehi, UT. Prominently located adjacent to 2100 North, Lewis Landing will become—and already has become—the home to many important tenants, including one we completed the build-out for last year. Lewis Landing sits on a 12-acre property and features two-85,000 SF buildings, ample parking and truck-loading space, and xeriscape. These large warehouse buildings hold spaces for 4-8 tenants. Both phases of Lewis Landing are identical, concrete tilt-up buildings. The wall panels in those buildings reach up to 40 feet tall (32-foot interior clearance) and weigh 210,000 pounds each. Working through weather delay challenges and soil remediation, the team was able to deliver the project one month early. Thanks for a great partnership, Gardner Group.

Welcome to the neighborhood, Peak JCB! The Peak JCB Dealership is a steel-framed building with metal panels on the exterior. The facility features 4,500 SF office space/parts storage and 6,000 SF shop space. Uniquely, the shop space houses a ten-ton bridge crane for mechanic use. Outside the building, the property has ample yard space for demonstrations and inventory. From the green panels and bright yellow signage, the entire project epitomizes the Peak JCB brand. With the project turned over earlier than expected, the superintendent gives the credit to our trade partners: “We had great trade partners on this project. They just wanted to figure out how to make it work without any drama. They were terrific to partner with.”

On this National Day of Service and Remembrance, our project teams and office staff came together to serve the community in various ways, including assembling snack packs for food insecure students, donating needed supplies to refugees and first responders, picking up trash in neighboring parks, providing lunches to our trade partners, and more. Today we honor those we lost on September 11th by working to promote a bright future.

Yesterday Zwick was honored to participate in the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Business Building West Addition at Southern Utah University. The ceremony’s motif was “connection,” a theme that resonates with our on-site team, many of whom graduated from SUU. We’re excited to be back on campus to build this important addition.

Large or small—we’re excited to get to work and turn plans into completed projects. In July, our teams broke ground on a new retail space in Lehi, UT that will eventually welcome a Starbucks. This quick project comprises about 2,500 SF of retail space along with corresponding site work. Like any other project, the team has identified cost-saving solutions and implemented safe building practices to bring this project smoothly to the finish line.
