CONTRACTS MANAGER (Discovery)

6mth Contract (potential extension)

Pay rate - $70 - $80/hr (W2)

1099 options with increase of rate accordingly.


Exclusively partnered with a wholly-owned Oncology focused subsidiary, for a large public pharmaceutical, on a Discovery Contracts Manager role. This opportunity is new to the team due to increased volume. This individual will be responsible for negotiating complex contracts to support drug discovery pipeline needs, including custom scientific engagements with third parties.


**THIS IS NOT CLINICAL CONTRACTING. We are looking for individuals with experience in discovery vendor agreements with CRO’s (SOW’s, MSA’s, etc) or other vendors supporting various discovery research. These types of vendors might be in-vivo, toxicology, PK**


Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the discovery teams (potentially including translational medicine, target discovery, chemistry, biology, toxicology, DMPK, large molecule, biomarker and/or CMC), legal, and finance teams to draft, negotiate and manage contracts to support discovery pipeline needs
  • Identify and mitigate business risks throughout the contracting process
  • Submit contracts and corresponding data through Contract Lifecycle Management system
  • Draft amendments to existing contracts based on changes in scope/expenditure

Background Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, advanced degree or scientific background preferred.
  • 5+ years contract management/negotiation experience, including contracting to support Drug Discovery/CMC efforts preferably in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical setting
  • Strong contract drafting, review and analysis skills across a variety of contracts, including Master Service Agreements and/or Statements of Work
  • Ability to communicate and negotiate efficiently and effectively
  • Ability to manage and meet strict deadlines, work independently, and multi-task
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Collaborative mindset
  • MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
