Cost Controller

I am partnered with a global water and wastewater treatment company that specializes in innovative technologies and solutions for water management. The company focuses on developing and implementing advanced treatment processes to address various water-related challenges. They are currently seeking a Cost Controller to join their team in a remote position.

The individual will support custom project business operations by assisting project managers and ensuring compliance with revenue recognition standards. This role involves complex financial duties and requires a deep understanding of project accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities:

Order Management:

• Review and process new project orders
• Verify all necessary approvals before SAP entry
• Understand and apply key contractual terms

Financial Compliance and Reporting:

• Maintain SOX compliance for project-related controls
• Apply percentage of completion and completed contract accounting principles
• Prepare and distribute project review reports
• Assist in internal/external audit processes

Project Support:

• Update project information in SAP (costs, change orders, schedules, milestones)
• Analyze project costs and variances
• Develop quarterly sales and gross margin forecasts
• Prepare variance analyses and risk registers

Financial Guidance:

• Educate project managers on financial best practices
• Ensure timely updates of project cost estimates
• Monitor and manage Revenue in Excess of Billings and WIP accounts
• Track accounts receivable and resolve payment issues

Process Improvement:

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives
• Develop reports for key business metrics
• Implement new revenue recognition rules
• Understand cost flows across supporting factories

Qualifications:

• 5-8 years of financial analysis experience
• Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred)
• Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
• Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic team environment
• Self-motivated with a commitment to quality and accuracy
