Title: Data Center Site Delivery Director

The Data Center Site Delivery Director will play a critical role in ensuring the successful deployment, testing, and operational readiness of data centers. You will be a leader responsible for creating plans and policies for EdgeConneX data centers globally. You will work as a part of a team responsible for the commissioning and turnover to Operations and Customers new data center facilities, ensuring they meet performance standards and customer design requirements.

The role of the Site Delivery Director requires strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. We are seeking an individual with the ability to self-direct and who has a strong background in Data Center technical construction and commissioning, as well as experience in managing complex customer fit-out activities. The Site Delivery Director will be responsible for managing the efficient transition of new data centers from Construction to Operations to Customer implementation.

This position will be based in the U.S. remotely but with heavy international travel and will report to the VP of Site Delivery. Given that, it would be helpful to live in close proximity to an airport. Denver, Colorado or the D.C. Metro area would be ideal locations, but not required.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Service Delivery Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive site delivery strategy aligned with the company's overall business objectives and customer needs.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Cultivate strong relationships with customers, address their needs and concerns promptly, and drive initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Commissioning and Handover: Participate in the commissioning process, ensuring that all systems and equipment are functioning properly before handing over the facility to the Operations and Customer teams.
  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with key vendors, including construction fit-out firms, equipment suppliers, and consultants.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage budgets for data center site delivery projects.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with data center site delivery projects.
  • Stakeholder Management: Communicate effectively with key stakeholders, including senior management, operations teams, customers, and external partners and vendors. Constant coordination and collaboration with EdgeConneX Engineering, PMO, and Operations teams, as well as significant interaction with customers, site contractors and external vendors.
  • Company Strategic Planning and Oversight:
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive site activation and turnover strategy and policy guidance for data centers.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align construction and commissioning efforts with Operations readiness and Customer fit-out implementation.
    • Mitigate risk through pre-planning, monitoring, training, and documentation efforts.
    • Resolve critical issues promptly while maintaining project timelines and costs.
  • Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement:
    • Ensure that EdgeConneX processes adhere to industry standards and best practices.
    • In collaboration with Operations, implement performance acceptance criteria and validate successful plant startup and equipment operations documentation is complete.
    • Support integration between key contracting scopes.
    • Identify lessons learned and drive improvements in handover processes.
    • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive project and lesson learned documentation, generate regular progress reports, and communicate effectively with senior management.
  • Focus on comprehensive site turnover from Construction to EdgeConneX and Customer Operations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong technical knowledge of critical environments, electrical systems, and mechanical cooling.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Experience/Education

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in hyperscale data center construction, commissioning, operations and fit-out in a general contractor, operations management, or customer implementation role.
  • Prior experience commissioning AI data centers highly valued.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related field equivalent experience.
  • MBA or Master of Science in Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale data center commissioning projects.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of data center design principles, mechanical systems (HVAC, UPS, generators), electrical distribution systems, network infrastructure, fire protection systems, and physical security.
  • Prior experience managing customer fit-outs: Telecom connectivity, electrical power to customer racks, hot and cold containment systems, power delivery to customer racks, cable management systems, rack installation and grounding, security systems, and network connectivity.
  • Skills: Proficient with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6), budgeting tools, and construction management best practices. PMP certification or similar is a plus.
  • Problem Solving & Leadership: Exceptional problem-solving abilities, strong decision-making skills, and the capacity to lead and manage diverse teams.
  • Communication: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • OSHA 30 safety certification required within 3 months following job start.

Travel

  • Up to 60% with the flexibility to travel on short notice.
  • International travel required.

US Salary Range

$150,000—$180,000 USD
