Director of People & Culture at Family Reach

OUR MISSION:

Family Reach is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to removing the financial barriers standing between cancer patients and their treatment — such as loss of income, increased out-of-pocket expenses, and socioeconomic factors. When faced with these financial barriers, families have to make impossible decisions like choosing between paying for treatment or basic essentials like housing, food, and transportation. No family should have to choose between their health and their home — and we won’t stop until that’s the reality.

Position Overview: The Director of Individual Giving will develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support revenue growth and donor diversification for Family Reach. This role will oversee both the strategic direction, build and manage their own portfolio, as well as hands-on management of fundraising efforts targeting individual giving, family offices, and major gifts.

Reporting directly to the CEO and collaborating cross-functionally within the organization, this position will lead a team responsible for achieving ambitious fundraising goals. This position has 1-3 direct reports.

Key Responsibilities:

Fundraising Strategy:

  • Develop and implement a multi-year fundraising strategy to expand Family Reach’s donor base and increase revenue streams from individual giving, family offices, and major gifts.
  • Set and achieve annual targets for revenue, donor acquisition, and engagement metrics across different donor segments.
  • Lead the development of innovative campaigns, solicitation plans, and donor stewardship strategies to strengthen support for Family Reach’s mission.
  • Oversight of annual giving appeals; engage current donors and reach new donor audiences through creative digital strategies, mail solicitations, events, relationship management and networking.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Grants Manager to identify and pursue funding opportunities within family offices, crafting compelling proposals and cultivating relationships.
  • Represent the organization’s fundraising priorities and initiatives to internal and external stakeholders, including at key events and meetings.

Fundraising Execution:

  • Build lists and pipelines of individual donors, vet and engage potential donors, and actively engage a portfolio of donors.
  • Manage a portfolio of major donors and family offices, soliciting gifts ranging from $50,000 to $1,000,000+.
  • Cultivate, build and maintain strong relationships with donors and key stakeholders across major gifts, individual donors, and family offices.
  • Monitor and report on progress towards fundraising goals, utilizing Salesforce to track donor interactions and outcomes.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align fundraising efforts with organizational priorities and initiatives.

Team Management:

  • Train and manage a team that will solicit their own major gifts and family offices pipeline ($5,000- $1,000,000+).
  • Manage and support a team responsible for soliciting major gifts and family office donations within their own portfolios.
  • Manage staff responsible for effective stewardship.
  • Manage staff responsible for building and engaging with key fundraising committees.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8-10+ years of demonstrated success in major gift fundraising and family office management.
  • Minimum 4 years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong understanding of the fundraising lifecycle, with experience in individual giving, major gifts, and family office fundraising.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit organizations in the healthcare or cancer-related space preferred.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic fundraising plans, achieving and exceeding revenue targets.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire donors and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience leading and mentoring fundraising teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Passion for and commitment to Family Reach’s mission of supporting families facing the financial burdens of cancer.

COMPENSATION:

The salary range for this position is $80,000-$100,000. Family Reach offers an attractive benefits package, including, but not limited to, an annual performance bonus, medical, dental, vision, retirement plan, and generous vacation and leave policies.

FAMILY REACH VALUES:

We encourage multiple perspectives and experiences, support a multicultural environment, and are dedicated to building our leadership and staff to reflect these values and the diverse communities we serve.
