POSITION OVERVIEW

The Education Programs Associate is a full-time position, supporting the day-to-day operations, planning, development and implementation of the Theater’s varied education programs—for teachers, students, and its general audiences.

  • Drives IDEA to Action platform by engaging in committees, events, training and other initiatives as needed.
  • Models CST’s core values of service, ingenuity, and collaboration as well as its customer service ethos.

Administration (60% of workload):

  • Manages daily phone and email contact with partner teachers including completing school group reservation contracts, scheduling, processing payments, and special requests.
  • Maintain accurate records of teacher contacts in Tessitura
  • Manages the data entry of Shakespeare Slam and Bard Core information
  • Support the development of Team Shakespeare materials, coordinate printing, and archiving of these materials
  • Supports the planning and implementation of Shakespeare Slam, Teacher Workshops, and Teacher Handbooks


Program Coordination (20% of workload):

  • Manages the Shakespeare Slam volunteer program, this includes recruitment, scheduling volunteers, and briefing day of the workshops/bouts
  • Supports the management of student matinees including completion of seat maps, service calls, and greeting student groups.
  • Supports the implementation of Pre-Amble programs by communicating details to internal departments, scheduling scholars, and processing payment requests.
  • Supports the management of Teacher Workshops.


Cross-Department Support (20% of workload):

  • Provides support for tracking and retrieving information for Development efforts.
  • Communicates effectively with Front of House and Box Office regarding student matinees
  • Assists with developing materials for the Marketing Department
  • Builds list in Tessitura for mailers & E-blasts

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work hours are generally 9:00 am-5:00 pm, Monday through Friday
  • Overtime hours will be necessary.
  • Frequent Saturdays and some evening hours when education programs are scheduled.
  • Worksite is primarily at the CST facilities on Navy Pier in Chicago, IL but will at times work in other locations such as the Chicago area schools, City Parks, and other off-site performance venues.
  • May be required to wear PPE during work activities.

PHYSICAL DEMAND

  • Ability to load and unload 25-lb bins that hold snacks, workshop materials, props, etc.
  • Ability to set up registration tables for workshops

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Humanities, Education, the Arts or Communications, and one to three years work experience.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Exemplary writing skills, along with experience crafting written communications for different audiences and purposes.
  • Proven attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience and proficiency with multiple software and database programs; advanced proficiency with Windows Office suite essential.
  • Strong presentational skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, multiple-priorities environment.
  • Ability to problem-solve on the job.

ADDITIONAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Ability to research and write effectively for a variety of audiences is highly desirable.
  • Experience with desktop publishing desirable.
  • Tessitura software and HTML software preferred.
