Job Title: Director of Research & Machine Learning

Our client is a cutting edge AI company who are focused on researching and truly understanding how AI models work, how to increase their performance and manage cost-effectiveness.

They have created a first-of-its-kind technology that helps companies optimize their AI performance and reduce costs, helping them save millions of $s each year.

With their innovative technology already achieving strong product-market fit, we are seeking a Director of Research & Machine Learning to lead efforts in driving the next wave of advancements in LLM optimization.

The Role: As the Director of Research & Machine Learning, you will:

• Lead and inspire research teams focused on foundational model optimization and machine learning innovation.
• Drive breakthroughs in LLM performance, efficiency, and cost-reduction strategies.
• Oversee the development of novel approaches to dynamically routing queries across models, ensuring optimal cost-performance balance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure our research efforts align with product goals and customer needs.
• Contribute to shaping the future direction of AI within the company, making a direct impact on the evolution of LLM technology.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in leading machine learning and research teams, preferably in AI or related fields.
• Expertise in foundational models, particularly LLMs, and their application in real-world systems.
• Strong track record in AI innovation, with a focus on performance optimization and cost efficiency.
• Ability to drive complex research projects from conception through to implementation.
• Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.

Compensation: $400,000 - $800,000 in base salary + 2% - 3.5% equity.
