How do I decide between hiring operational or support staff? Back in September we welcomed Stewart Houston into the team in the newly-created Technical Operations Manager role, and what an impact he’s had! There’s been (and continues to be) a clear improvement in our processes and practices as a result of having a highly skilled person in this role. Now that Stewart’s settled, I’m turning my attention to what our next hire could/should be, and it’s a decision that I always find tricky – technical or support staff? Technical staff are, of course, at the heart of what we do, and each new technical team member brings unique experience and additional technical skills to the service. It’s always very exciting to get a new technical person in, and, of course, they’re a chargeable resource! Support staff, on the other hand, are an expense, but I know that having the right people in roles like Sales, Marketing, and Accounts can free-up my time and/or generate business opportunities. What should Nimbus Blue’s next hire be? It seems to me that, in small business, at least, the revenue is rarely there to hire support staff and it just becomes a “must do” in order to progress the business. Or perhaps I just work better (read as "procrastinate less") when I put myself/payroll under a bit of pressure! #smallbusiness #growingteam #investinpeople

At Sketchplay Playground Architects, we believe that the playground architect is a specialized and defined role profile, with its own realm of tacit knowledge and experience as part of the design process. Read our blog to learn more https://lnkd.in/deMEdUQm

Your next team member might be someone you already know. Some of the best “hires” come from within by promoting someone to give them an opportunity to prove themselves. They've demonstrated dedication, they know the ins and outs of your company's culture, and they know the team dynamics. Promoting from within not only rewards loyalty but also ensures a seamless transition, since they already grasp the company's vision and values. By investing in internal talent, you're not just filling a position; you're fostering a culture of growth, loyalty, and shared success. #construction #hiring #culture #groundupconstructionrecruiting

You would never get your architect to design half your house and then design the other half yourself because "you've been in a house". There's technical knowledge, design expertise, and professional standards they are working within. Hiring an event professional is like hiring an architect for your event. If you cut out parts of the scope to manage it yourself because you "know what events entail", you're missing out on having their technical knowledge, experience, and design expertise applied to your whole event. It's the difference between having "hired help" who can check off tasks for you versus having a trusted advisor that can help design an impactful experience for your attendees. I don’t know about you, but I’d never move into a house that was only half designed by a professional architect…. #events #eventprofs #eventdesign

“Too good to be true” is frustratingly common. A company isn’t actually offering what they say they are. A candidate doesn’t have the experience they say they do. But if you’re out there heart-forward and hustling every day in any sort of technology, systems, electronics, programming and/or engineering space and looking for something new — come join us in Luxury Residential Tech. Especially if you’re up for a challenge, real growth and working with crews that roll super deep. For our part? We are who we say we are. Teams with decades of experience, structure, and tried-and-true operations. As with any industry, this doesn’t apply to ALL companies. Nor are all integration firms hiring, but the high-end definitely is. In fact, the best of the best are ALWAYS looking for the best and the brightest. This is The Guild. Join us.
