1. Time and Location Signifiers: Color grading is a cinematic time machine, evoking eras and locales. Specific color palettes can transport viewers - sepia for the past, warm hues for Mediterranean vibes. Vital for historical, sci-fi, and fantasy genres, enhancing immersion through visual authenticity and consistency. 2 Highlighting Key Elements: Filmmakers utilize color grading to direct the audience's focus. Adjusting color balance, contrast, and saturation highlights objects or characters for storytelling purposes. It aids in plot and character development, offering creative control over the audience's narrative perception. Capturing the moments that last a lifetime. Title: "Mind Your Step" - this image is a bit of a visual clutter and not nearly as artful as the images in my previous posts. The graffiti is random but the "red" door frame creates a visual focal point and the even lighting is what drew my eye to this image. #graffitiart #grafittialleytoronto #grafittialley #fineartphotography

📸Capturing the essence of a scene goes beyond just clicking a button; it's about crafting a narrative through composition and perspective. 🌊🏡 In this rendering, I dove under the waves to get a very different angle of this seaside wood cabin. The way the light and shadow meet, the texture interplay, and the element contrast all tell a story. Whether photography or a render, the way we frame our subject can transform ordinary scenes into extraordinary tales. Compose with perspective, compose with artistry, and bring your imagination to life.✨ #CompositionMatters #PerspectiveIsKey #ArtistryInPhotography

The concept of analog is making a resurgence because of the popular misconception around authenticity, which is that in order to be authentic, we must harken back to the non-digitized old world (which to young folks is the 90’s, apparently. I’m not offended). The upswing to this trend is that effort is required to achieve the look we struggled to leave behind during the advent of digital. Film is back. Darkrooms are back. Tapes, vinyls, cd’s are back. 35mm and medium format cameras are en vogue again. What does this mean? There’s a new generation of people learning the science and math behind exposure value, film speed, and aperture. There is intention. And process. There’s an appreciation for the quality of light, ambient noise and atmosphere, movement. The sterile glossy over-sharp aroma of digital content is on the decline and the nostalgic is resurrected like a fever dream realized. I, for one, am here for it. #photography #photographybusiness

"The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera." — Dorothea Lange Learning photography at a young age definitely taught me how to visualize. But how can someone start learning right now? 1. Practice Observation: Put intentional effort into observing your surroundings. Pay attention to details, colors, shapes, and textures. 2. Box it Up: Make a shape like a camera's viewfinder with your hands and use it to limit your focus to one area that interests you. 3. Share the Scene: Describe the scene you observed to someone else. The more vivid your description, the better you've visualized it. Why does it matter? By developing your visualization skills, you can become a more effective storyteller, communicator, and problem-solver. #Photography #Observation #Vision

"Complexity is not new. And it’s not something separate from our lives. We all already know how to be in, and navigate complexity. However we have a uniquely human ability to create pockets of order and predictability. And while this has led to incredible progress, our love affair with certainty and control has become a trap. Now, the challenges of our times invite us to reconsider, to reframe our learned dislike for complexity and reconnect with our innate ability to be dance with it — or as Jennifer Garvey-Berger and Carolyn Caughlin calls it: our complexity genius." - Sonja Blignaut, Co-founder and managing director, Complexity Fit Source: Blignaut, Sonja. My practice-based research explores the intricacies of constructing staged cinematic photographs to express artistic concepts beyond realism and the constraints that limit photography purely to a process of capturing reality. Through a formalist approach, the project reimagines the pictorial form of the cinematic photograph, focusing on non-linear narratives and meaning-making through their construction using composites, small scale built sets and post production.

One small change can change your picture completely. No gatekeeping! 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁. Without it, your images can fall flat. With it, they grab attention and leave a lasting impression. Here are three ways to add contrast: - 𝗧𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁: Play with light and dark areas. Great for black-and-white shots that need more depth and detail. - 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁: Combine warm and cool colors (like blue and orange) to create bold, vibrant images. - 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁: Use opposing ideas - like busy vs. quiet scenes - to tell a story in street photography. Ready to take your photos to the next level! Inspired by Trevor Traynor “It’s the dramatic yet delicate dance between rich, velvety blacks and pure, clean whites, and every tone in between” Model: 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗵

I love symmetry, harmony, and repetition a *lot*: as compositional elements they make my brain very happy. During the editing process I'm not above removing small incongruous elements if I think they detract from the overall scene. Painters leave things out all the time; photography doesn't need to be any different. That said, incongruous is not a value judgement. The strange, unusual, or unexpected can enhance a scene. It can *be* the scene. It's all a matter of perspective. (Cross-posted from my blog: https://lnkd.in/ge6KPRtd)

One of the most intriguing aspects of Victor Chibuike’s work is how he translates abstract, imaginative ideas into visual compositions that resonate with his audience. His process begins with three simple but powerful questions: "What, Why, and How." "What body of art do I want to birth into existence?" "Why is this work important? What is the essence of the work I’m creating, and how will the storytelling impact and inspire my audience?" "How will I execute my ideations, from costumes to curating models, photography, and set design?" He knows he’s captured the perfect shot when all the elements—costume, model, set design—come together to match the vision in his head.
