๐โจ Today, as we commemorate ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ฅ๐ ๐๐๐ฒ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐๐ฅ ๐๐ข๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ for Dialogue and Development, let's take a moment to appreciate the vibrant tapestry of cultures that enriches our workplace! ๐ At Access Indonesia, we are privileged to experience a kaleidoscope of cultures, traditions, and beliefs, each weaving its unique thread into the fabric of our collective identity. This year, our offices in Indonesia and Singapore celebrate this diversity by highlighting the rich variety of ethnicities represented among our colleagues. Each culture brings its own unique traditions, languages, and habits, creating a workplace where diversity and innovation thrives. ๐ข๐ We do more than celebrate our differences; we celebrate unity in diversity. Research from Harvard Business Review provides compelling evidence that diversity unlocks innovation and drives market growth. Companies that embrace cultural diversity and inclusiveness are more innovative and better positioned for market success. It is through the intersection of varied backgrounds and cultures that we find creativity, fuel innovation, and build the foundation for lasting change. ๐๐ก As we stand on the threshold of a new era, let us reaffirm our commitment to fostering an environment of inclusion, respect, and understanding. Let us pledge to champion diversity not just in our workplace but in every corner of our lives. For it is in embracing the full spectrum of human diversity that we unlock the boundless potential of our collective humanity. ๐ค๐ On this ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ฅ๐ ๐๐๐ฒ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐๐ฅ ๐๐ข๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ, we honor our cultural heritage that brings us together, enriches us as a group, and symbolizes the tolerance and acceptance that define us as a community. ๐ถ๐ #WorldCulturalDiversityDay #AccessIndonesia #DiversityandInclusion

Relocation .... does it scare you or bring lots of excitement in you? Reposting this for the map! Thank you Surya Sharma. I come across many executives who wish to relocate... hope this map gives you some ideas... I find that often the language determines the choice of country. Many Indians wish to relocate to the UK, USA, Canada, Australia because of the English language...and some familiarity with the lifestyle/culture ... Other reasons people want to relocate can be the type of education they want to give to their children or for the weather and lifestyle. And of course for many it is a career change or career promotion. Have you ever thought of relocating? Do you know how to negotiate a relocation package? ๐ DM me if you want to make your relocation a great success for you and your family. #relocationforwork #careeradvice #careercounselling #changingcountries #relocationpackage

Everyone is unique. We all have different backgrounds and stories. Embracing these differences isnโt just niceโitโs powerful. When we see and value the uniqueness in each person, amazing things happen. I love celebrating National Day, it reminds me how fortunate I am as a Singaporean with the safe, diverse and harmonious place we call home. A leaderโs job is to bring out the best in people. When people feel valued and included, they shine. They share their best ideas, take bold steps, and work together seamlessly. Inclusion isnโt about fitting everyone into the same mould. Itโs about celebrating our differences and using them to create something extraordinary, the best way forward. So, how do we make everyone feel they belong? ๐บ We must be intentional. ๐บ Set clear goals for diversity. ๐บ Train our teams on biases. ๐บ Create policies that ensure fairness. When people feel they belong, they give their best. Letโs embrace our unique qualities, build inclusive environments, and harness our diverse talents. Happy 59th Birthday Singapore! ๐ #happynationalday #diversityequalityinclusion #gratitude

Business Development Manager @ Spotted Zebra ๐ฆ | Supporting high stakes talent decisions with skills based assessments
I really enjoyed binge watching the latest series of Race Across the World on the BBC! As the contestants travelled from Japan to Lombok it reminded me of the summer that I traveled through Indonesia. Throwback Thursday picture below, on an uninhabited island somewhere between the Gili Islands and Komodo. โต๏ธ๐๏ธ It got me thinking about the #skills that went into a successful race as the competitors were all different ages with different backgrounds and life experience. This was a marathon of a race, there was a tight budget that had to be considered and many different cultures and language barriers to contend with, not to mention different transport networks and currencies! Iโve had a go at putting together a list of skills that could help find a great world racer: ๐โก๏ธ Adaptability ๐โก๏ธ Ambition ๐โก๏ธ Getting stuff done ๐โก๏ธ Collaboration ๐โก๏ธ Problem solving ๐โก๏ธ Resilience Are there any more #skills that should be on the list? Understanding the behavioural skills that make candidates a good match for a role and introducing skills based hiring practices can mean access to a wider talent pool without fear of harming hiring outcomes. At Spotted Zebra we help to align people with opportunities that use and develop their skills, so that they are happier and more productive at work. ๐ฆ #skillsbasedhiring #dei #throwbackthursday

Why are so many men eager to relocate to Indonesia? ๐ดโจ It's not just about career growth and market potential, is it? ๐ค Men, let's be honest โ the allure isn't just economic. It's the exotic appeal of Indonesian women that truly captivates. ๐๐ Sure, Indonesia's on the rise. But let's not kid ourselves. If itโs global market connectivity youโre after, look towards Singapore, Thailand, or Malaysia. Yet, these men remain undeterred, their eyes fixed on Jakarta, driven by personal thrills masked as professional ambitions. Before you pack your bags for Jakarta, ask yourself: are you pursuing professional growth or a personal fantasy? ๐บ The allure of the "exotic" might just be clouding your career judgment. #indonesia #career #growth #expat #careeradvice #expatlife #careergrowth

๐ My thoughts on how Iโd improve the Indonesian Work Culture ๐ No work culture is perfect, so here are some ideas that Iโd advocate for Indonesia based on my experience from working in first world countries. ๐ Demoting Age-Related Questions: In Indonesia, there's often a correlation between age and experience. If I were at the helm of the Ministry of Manpower, I'd advocate for making it illegal to ask about age in work circumstances. This shift could empower young talents whose capabilities might be overshadowed by traditional perceptions. ๐ Promoting Work-Life Balance: With Jakarta's notorious traffic and the toll it takes on work-life balance, I'd champion hybrid or remote work options. Embracing flexibility can contribute to an increase in employee well-being. This will be a tough one for many Indonesians to accept since many managers still correlate working late hours with being productive. ๐ Breaking Down Ethnic Barriers: In some Indonesian companies, the preference for a specific race can still exist, hindering diversity and inclusion. Legislation could play a role hereโmaking it illegal to ask for race and enforcing diversity by setting targets for representation. Learning from people with diverse backgrounds has enriched my professional journey. What do my fellow Indonesians think?๐ผ #WorkCulture #DiversityandInclusion #ContinuousImprovement
