Improving situational awareness in case of ✈️ diversions is really important - and it's where our "Massive Diversions" tool comes into its own. #MassiveDiversions, which we've just finished the third round of trials for, is a tool that automatically assesses available stand capacity at surrounding airports. This helps develop a common situational awareness among operational stakeholders, helping them better manage operations in case widespread diversions are required by big reductions in capacity. The tool proves beneficial in scenarios where many airborne flights need to be rerouted to alternate #airports, which may result in heavy and complex coordination between ATCOs, airport operators and pilots to avoid over-deliveries and very long aircraft holdings, which can lead to safety concerns. The project was proposed by AENA as part of the 3rd ideation cycle of #EATIN – the EUROCONTROL Air Transport Innovation Network – our user-driven innovation portfolio. The trials saw EUROCONTROL #EIH Innovation Hub & #NM Network Manager airport experts work alongside participants from: ✈ major airports (AENA, Aeroporti di Roma, SEA Milano, Manchester, London Luton & Stansted, East Midlands and Birmingham) ✈ major airlines (Swiss International Air Lines, Vueling, ITA Airways, SAS, Ryanair, easyJet, Jet2, British Airways and BA Cityflyer) ✈ ANSPs: NATS (UK), ENAV (Italy) and ENAIRE (Spain) ✈ the UK Department of Transport ✈ Cranfield University ✈ Euro Jet Services. The consortium is looking forward to the industrialisation & continuous development of the tool. 👉 More about the project: Francisco Salguero. 👉 More about EATIN: https://lnkd.in/e2pXuZFi

Many thanks to the #ERA team for inviting me to an exciting panel around competition in Europe and how it affects regional connectivity. The European Commission is currently undergoing a review on the future subsidies of regional airports. During our panel discussion it was highlighted: -) how important it was to keep regional airports operational to maintain and enhance regional connectivity in Europe. -) regional airports will play a vital role for the development of zero carbon aviation as the first aircraft to enable disruptive technology will offer capacity and range which will rely on regional airport infrastructure. As a conclusion, airport infrastructure, airport fee structures and airport funding policies amongst others do play a vital role in the competitive landscape of aviation in Europe. Many thanks to Vasiliki Christidi Group General Manager SKY Express, to @Richard Lake CEO Eastern Airways, Henrik Morch DG Competition, European Commission for an insightful panel. #sustainableaviation #Embraer #Energia

Insightful panel discussion at #WorldAviationFestival2024 about how inflight connectivity increasingly shapes the digital cabin, featuring United Airlines, Condor Flugdienst GmbH, AERQ, and Seth Miller. Here are three key takeaways: - Investments are shifting away from canned content towards integration with third-party services on the ground. - The online and offline domains need to be combined into one cohesive experience. - For inflight connectivity, reliability and consistency are more important than achieving hundreds of megabits of throughput. To be continued! #SkyFive #InflightConnectivity Picture by Cyril JEAN. People from left to right: Seth Miller, Dirk Lindemeier, Dominic Green, Meike Pucher, Janina Kratz, Martin Orzechowski.

Great IROPs panel at Aviation Festival Asia hosted by Claire Donnellan, MBA, GAICD, IAP and featuring James Machen, Sveinn Akerlie, Levina Govender and Eva H. Key points include: ✅️ Airline and airport collaboration essential ✅️ Information or lack thereof is an issue ✅️ Lack of system integration. Real time speed and accuracy is tough ✅️ Reality vs industry talk is still quite far apart ✅️ Predictive is key to help mitigate further disruption and passenger distress #aviationfestasia
