Annual Report 2023 is out! "We are evolving, not only as direct implementers but also as ethical regranters. We believe the role of re-granters can extend beyond monetary grants by emphasizing relationship-building, capacity-building, and amplifying marginalized stakeholders. By challenging traditional philanthropic norms and addressing funding inequities, we must strive to expand access to resources, support emergent movements, and navigate positional power dynamics. Ultimately, we envision a transformative shift in philanthropy, one that prioritizes movement-led initiatives and dismantles existing structures of oppression, envisioning a future where communities thrive with the resources and support they truly deserve. Over 2023-2026, we aim to drive $2.25 million to these frontline organizations. As of early 2024, 40% of this has been secured, with another 25% currently in the pipeline." https://lnkd.in/dEQkrcnG

"In the future, philanthropy may increasingly prioritize interventions that address systemic issues and root causes of social problems, rather than focusing solely on symptomatic relief. This could involve supporting cross-sector collaborations, advocacy efforts, and policy initiatives aimed at driving structural change." There are three practical ways Forum uses futures to build collective capacity to respond to uncertainty and deliver on impact. Ariel Muller, Forum’s Director of Futures, explores the practices in this blog, the final part of a three-part series sharing lessons we have learned in using futures and foresight with civil society organisations and philanthropy over the years. https://lnkd.in/dY9P4xqT #Futures #Practice #Sustainability #Philanthropy

I thoroughly enjoyed getting to write this article for Power for All on global philanthropy trends, as a part of our 2024 trends spotlight. While it's difficult to capture the breadth of global giving themes in just one article, my role at Power for All has granted me the opportunity to keep my finger on the pulse of major philanthropic organizations. Some of my thoughts... 🤝 Collaboration = critical. Perhaps to maximize resources and reduce redundancies, more foundations are prioritizing partnerships via joint commitments, initiatives, and announcements. 🌍 More funders are increasingly focused on topics like #renewableenergy, #emissionsreduction, and #climateadaptation. Climate concerns aside, this strategy can be particularly beneficial to their relevance and brand. 🌾 #Food and #agriculture is the new center of gravity—whether we’re tackling jobs, climate, energy or gender. 💸 Community-led solutions and flexible funding models have gained increased focus, which can help both grantees and the communities they serve achieve greater autonomy in how they use their resources. I am optimistic that major foundations will continue to explore innovative ways to better meet the evolving needs of their partners, communities, and planet in 2024. Feel free to give the whole thing a read here :) https://lnkd.in/gcNPCRTj

North Six keeps it simple The NORTH SIX Impact Report is informative, simple and to the point. They have a section on Offsets. "We work with Gold Standard to make offset contributions for the carbon we produce through our work on shoots and events. Last year our donations went to purchasing cookstoves for people in Guinea, West Africa. These cookstoves alleviated the wood commonly used for cooking in this community, which reduces deforestation and smoke, which can lead to serious respiratory disease. The cookers were designed by the community and made by local smiths using materials available locally, ensuring complete combustion with no visible smoke, less wood consumption, and producing only a small amount of ash." Came across 700 credits retired by them in March 2024 so decided to read their impact report. There are many businesses beyond the big corporations retiring credits. Many don't disclose their offset strategies. For those who do, it's best to keep it simply simple. I've started liking the Gold Standard marketplace.

Investing in Sustainable Projects: A Win-Win for Causes and Communities! In the world of fundraising, there's a powerful concept that often gets overlooked: supporting projects that can financially sustain themselves. 💼💡Why is this important? Let's dive in: 1- Long-Term Impact: By investing in projects that have the potential to generate their own revenue streams, you’re not just providing short-term relief, you’re empowering communities to thrive for years to come. These projects can continue making a positive impact long after initial funding has been secured. 2- Self-Sufficiency: Sustainable projects are like seeds planted in fertile soil, they have the ability to grow and flourish on their own. By fostering self-sufficiency, you’re promoting independence and resilience within communities, enabling them to break free from cycles of dependency. 3- Multiplying Effect: When you support projects that can sustain themselves financially, you’re not just supporting one cause, you’re creating a ripple effect of positive change. As these projects grow and succeed, they can serve as models for others, inspiring similar initiatives and amplifying your impact. #majorgifts #philanthropy

Sustainable Development is, “development which meets the needs of current generations without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs” –The Brundtland report, 1987. The United Nations SDG primer course for me started as an endeavor to keep myself abreast of the current global machinery and system, but it turned out to be so much more. It was a rude awakening of sorts. ➡ It is happening, right here, right now. The United Nations 2030 Agenda consists of carefully curated 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which comprises of 169 targets. It is a goal like NO OTHER, and it is THE need of the hour. Our planet has been giving us signals, but unfortunately, we have a very small opportunity window left, owing to our own past mistakes. It is unsettling that 2030 is peeking from the horizon. ➡ Government bodies, Civil servants, Parliaments, Profit-oriented private businesses, Academia, you and me- everybody has a role to play. Just take a minute to go through the link https://lnkd.in/gEAJw_6S (below) to see how individual actions from remotest parts of our country are making a difference. I promise, you will be surprised and proud at the same time, as much as I was. Which is why the 2030 Agenda is so important, because it is not just a few policymakers, this is a target for each and every one of us. ➡ Leave no one behind- the UNDP made this the core value. We can’t afford to leave another few billion of our population behind again. We Indians suffice for one sixth of the human race. Our role, as a South Asian giant, is extremely significant. This objective belongs to everyone, from the Least developed countries (LDCs) to the small island nations who are now more prone to natural calamities due to climate change. Our being online has given us immense data to create predictive models. But aggregation in these data models, is damaging and has to be rooted out. Disaggregating data based on different sections (net income, gender etc) of society should be used to get the actual picture. Sadly, major chunk of our population is still not online and devastatingly are excluded from all the data based plans and policies. 🌍 I am writing this post to appeal to my community and fellow military brothers and sisters who are in the process of joining or have already joined large private conglomerates/businesses. These days everything is linked to sustainability, not just production and consumption. For e.g. companies in supply chain greatly impact how we reuse and reduce our waste. Similarly, whatever be your role, just read about these SDGs and how you can do your bit for a greater good. The fine data models and graphs added by United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, leaves a crude impact and is alarming to say the least. Any possible solution, in any capacity, will make the burden of our accountability easier to bear, for the sake of our future generations. #SDG #UN #Sustainability

The magnitude of sustainability challenges confronting society is ever-increasing. Without substantial action, the repercussions are poised to become irreversible. It is imperative for the global community to step up its efforts to expedite positive change. Last week, ERM published our annual Sustainability Report, which showcases how we have stepped up in the face of the increasing urgency of addressing global sustainability challenges to drive impact through our work with clients, in our own operations, and in our partnerships with stakeholders. From contributing to more than 200 gigawatts of installed renewable capacity and over 10 gigawatts of installed energy storage, to cleaning 2.4+ billion liters of water and working on 1/5th of the world's priority water stress basins, we have really made a difference. Explore the complete report at: https://lnkd.in/gRhixBgK In this report you will find a mixture of graphics, amazing photography and over 30 case studies that help to bring to life the work that ERM does every day to demonstrate credible sustainability leadership. You will also find a summary of our FY24 performance and a lookahead to our priorities for FY25 and beyond.
