Here’s 5 not-so common tips from my experience as an intern at Dell Technologies 💻: 1. People are willing to make introductions to help you find the right people to talk to. I’ve done many other internships, but never experienced an environment up until now where I was supported in finding mentors. Ask your teammates for contacts and intros! 🗣️ 2. Your manager is your biggest advocate. They’re not here to make your life harder. The more you update them and do consistent 1on1s with, the less burden you have all on yourself. Share the roadblocks with them and brainstorm solutions together. 💼 3. Social events with other interns can seem like a waste of time especially with hard project deadlines, but talking to other interns and learning about what they do can help you find your next role OR be in the know of someone from a team you might need for support later down the line. 📚 4. Use lunch as a time to meet people. At my past internships, I would take my lunch at my desk and just work through it, but as much as ur work matters, it’s also important to create those relationships + give yourself a break! 🌮 5. Don’t be afraid to do things outside of your main duties. This summer, I let myself try many different things. For example, being a part of the Dell Ambassador Program opened my eyes to what’s happening in Dell’s client business space. 🖇️ 📸: recently celebrated Dell’s 40th birthday 🥳 #iwork4Dell #NationalInternDay Dell Technologies

I've got big news to share... I'm starting my #lifeatgartner journey in May with the Gartner Global Tech Sales Account Management Internship! Here are 4 reasons I can't wait to start! 1. Gartner doesn't just track trends in tech, they foresee them! This unique, data-driven insight is why 77% of Fortune Global 500 companies turn to Gartner as a trusted advisor. 2. Glassdoor named Gartner as one of 100 Best Places to Work in 2024! This award is entirely based on voluntary employee reviews, and highlights the vibrant culture Gartner offers. 3. Gartner invests in lifelong learners, providing world-class sales training and mentorship to help them become top performers. 4. Unlike most internships focused solely on prospecting, Gartner's program offers a rare chance to dive into account management. This means I'll gain full-cycle sales insight into how complex deals close.

I am both excited and saddened to share that after nearly five years with VMware (and formerly Pivotal), I am looking for my next role and environment. It is hard to succinctly describe what I “do” - any singular title feels insufficient and somewhat dishonest. To label myself as only a Product Manager, or Software Developer, or Solutions Architect would not capture my capabilities, capacities, or approaches adequately. Since I struggle to find the perfect role to search for or ask people to share opportunities for, I instead would like to share a little bit about some of the values I hold and am looking for in the companies or teams I consider. - First and foremost is empathy. Empathy at work can be seen in many ways: company and team policies and processes that codify diversity and inclusivity, user-centered approaches to product and development, a human-first mindset, psychologically safe teams, etc. - I appreciate opportunities to make meaningful impact through my work. Some of my efforts that I am most proud of from my time at Pivotal/VMware fall into this realm: community outreach through workshops with Black Girls Code, leading my team’s DEI initiative, creating and running my team’s internship program, alleviating team pain points by developing a full-stack application for internal use. While I don’t necessarily need the company mission to be impact-driven, it is important for me to be able to find opportunities for this fulfillment somewhere at work. - Reciprocity is inherent in all healthy relationships, and this should be true for employer:employee relationships as well! This value overlaps greatly with empathy and can look like: communities built to foster growth, opportunities for professional development, work-life balance, healthy expectations and support, ESG efforts, etc. - And lastly (and unfortunately perhaps most importantly), it is critical that my future employer be able to sponsor me for my H1-b visa. So while I am sad to be leaving my teammates - whom I feel that I have so much more to learn from - I am embracing this reminder to not attach myself to outcomes or expectations, and am thoroughly excited to forge new paths in my journey ahead! If you have any opportunities that you feel I would be a good fit for (whether they be in Product Management, Software Development, or otherwise), please do let me know 🙂

Here's how she did it👇🏽 When she first relocated to the US, she was full of dreams, hope, and enthusiasm. But those feelings quickly turned into doubt, uncertainty, and fear. Everyone around her gave the same discouraging advice: "You won't get a good job as a new immigrant. Your best bet is a menial job. We've been here before you and know how these things work." Fed up with this negativity, she joined my coaching program during her Master's studies. We went all in, and within a few months, she secured an internship. That's one step closer 💼. I encouraged her to keep acquiring the technical skills we discussed because the journey was far from over. She just finished her internship, and guess what? We helped her land a full-time role at Pfizer (a multinational) as a Process Engineer II. And the best part? She didn’t have to start from an entry-level position. After several years of coaching Black immigrants (new & old) who have landed jobs at Amazon, Salesforce, Intel, Johnson & Johnson, and more, I know the journey doesn't stop here. There's a lot we are still going to achieve together. Listen, this is what happens when you stop winging your career and finally decide to get the playbook to exciting job offers. You don't need years of foreign work experience like you've been led to believe. You don’t need a stack of shiny new certifications. You don’t need to spend endless days, weeks, and months applying. You just need a strategy that works for your specific situation! And guess what? Once you understand how the strategy works, you can use it over and over again to win, just like this client and many others before her. Sometimes, even the strongest among us need a helping hand to achieve our dreams. If you're ready to break free from the cycle of menial jobs and start landing high-level positions like our numerous clients, comment CAP and let's help you navigate the path to your dream career. #careershift #jobsearchassistance #salarynegotiation #careerguidance #jobopportunities #jobopportunity #hiringnow
