I’m very excited to share with you that my daughter Isabella is a part of the 2024 Student Visionaries of the Year campaign and over the next 7 weeks, she will be working to raise money and awareness for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and their mission to find a cure for blood cancers. It’s an honor to be a part of this outstanding group of students, but an even larger honor to be able to work for the patients, survivors and their families. The work that LLS is doing is changing the lives of the 1.3 million Americans living with blood cancer. Inflammatory Breast Cancer is an orphaned cancer, meaning that although it is highly fatal, it is rarely discussed, and receives few donations from the national organizations. Donations over $2 are tax deductible. ➡ Brain cancer kills more children in Australia than any other disease and more people under 40 than any other cancer. ➡ The 5-year survival rate for brain cancer has only increased from 21.2% in 1986, to only 22.3%. 5-year survival rate of prostate cancer has increased from 60% to over 90%. Breast cancer survival has increased 72% to over 90%. ➡ The financial cost of brain cancer – to both patients and society – is the highest of all cancers.
