I think this is such a bonkers idea on so many levels 1. It shows us up as weak - we achieve something as a country and we all get on the p*ss and can't be bothered working - what happened to 'what's next' - it's not how winners behave, celebrate yes but train the next day... 2. The pubs will be full anyway, regardless of the next day 3. Not everyone likes football 4. We didn't have (and I don't remember loads of calls for) a bank holiday for the women winning the euros 5. As above for the Cricketers winning the world cup 6. What about other sports or major achievements - we very often punch above our weight in the Olympics - say we finish 3rd in the medals table (which would be a far bigger achievement) do we have another random day off 7. It's too hard to implement at too short notice and won't be a bank holiday for the vast majority 8. What about everyone with a hospital / doctors / dentist etc appointment on Monday - they get cancelled because those workers absolutely should be treated to the treat - retail AND hospitality won't be able to rejig rosters and will have to foot the bill for 'bank holiday' pay 9. Let's not even mention the direct correlation to 'on the p*ss' and the rise in domestic violence Bonkers!

A global electric grid is possible and would create economic integration between nation states to promote peace and prosperity. The European Union began as the European Steel and Coal Community as a response to WW2, to ensure the essential infrastructure of those nations were designed to be mutually beneficial. Focusing on providing abundant cheap electricity around the world and standardizing blockchain smart grid operating systems with resource management tools like carbon credits = world peace 🕊️😁✌️

I’m pleased to welcome CU alumnus Benny Shendo to campus as CU Boulder’s first associate vice chancellor for Native American affairs. He brings significant experience to the role as a New Mexico state senator and formal tribal administrator and lieutenant governor for the Pueblo of Jemez, as well as work in higher education. Restich: the social summit, convened by CREATE STREETS and Labour Together is a great slice through all kinds of activism in the field of social and physical regeneration. I am so pleased to join a session on the role of heritage, stitching and retrofit asking why do we have to look back to move forward? My thoughts… We HAVE to reign in sprawl, allow towns to become more themselves as they grow. And places don’t become themselves by accident. Yes, there are local materials but also a history of crazy characters. It was always tough to fund development and there are incredible stories of bankruptcy along the way. Those who glorified their home towns, delivering philanthropic projects, and responding to frequent changes in fashion, had great tenacity. It feels as if the last fifty years of building what -people-want, housebuilder architecture, is stuck in its own cul de sac. Houses feel accidental and placeless, not responding in anyway to the climate challenges and connectivity needed to make genuine neighbourhoods. We can build new places if they are dense and benefit from our instinctive and collective knowledge of how to live. Excited to join this discussion!
