I will always be a Toys R Us Kid! Just a few years ago, Toys R Us was on its way to the retail graveyard after going out of business. Now, it’s coming to America’s biggest mall, just in time for countdown to Christmas. The iconic toy retailer, whose history dates back to the late 1940s, went out of business in 2018, in tandem with its Babies R Us division. Toys R Us at one point was the leading toy chain in the United States and globally. As it expanded its dominance in toys retailing, it came at the expense of smaller neighborhood toy stores which just couldn’t compete with its size and low prizes and were forced to shut down. But Toys R Us’ size – both in global store fleet and massive inventory – eventually contributed to its downfall as the company buckled under billions of dollars of debt. WHP Global, a brand acquisition and management company that bought Toys R Us and its Babies R Us division in 2021 from Tru Kids after they went out of business, said on Monday that the newest mall-based Toys R Us store will open just before Thanksgiving at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota. The company said the 11,000 square foot store, opened in partnership with Go! Retail Group, will carry an assortment of toys, videogames, as well as an in-house cafe and ice cream parlor to be added in the New Year. https://lnkd.in/gEECphx9

This #holiday I took my each of my #kids shopping to their favorite store. I wanted to teach them about being a #creator and #producer not a just a #consumer While in store we would talk about what products they liked, where they heard about those products, what products would they create if it was their business, what they would do different etc. I said to each as they were shopping "hey why don't we #start or #buy a #business selling this" they were excited and begged me to help them do that. Interesting enough it opened my eyes to #markets I normally wouldn't have noticed and gave me an 8, 10, and 13 year olds perspective as a consumer and young creator. 2023 Progress 8 yr old - #pokemon distributorship under contract. POP MART, a toy brand established in Beijing in 2010, made it to a total equity of $40 billion in just 14 years. What strategies and tactics have contributed to its success? The core pillar of POP MART's marketing strategy and overall appeal is blind box culture. When you purchase a blind box, what's hidden in it remains a secret until the seal is broken. The unboxing process is extremely exciting and drives young consumers crazy. And POP MART has brilliantly combined this idea with exclusive adorable designer toys to skyrocket its popularity. But that's not the point. Its marketing strategies behind toys can be more appealing and inspiring. In the past years, it has expanded its business worldwide aggressively. The action offers benefits that significantly enhance their competitiveness and profits. Learning about consumer preferences and market trends in other countries helped them develop attractive toys and different services. In the process of POP MART's overseas expansion, it targeted fast-growing economies, especially those with rapid growth in retail e-commerce sales: southeast Asia, North America, Latin America…Once it tapped into a new market, it opened up a new source of income: selecting an appropriate payment method there. Ignoring these platforms could alienate potential customers, as 79% of shoppers prefer e-commerce sites that accept their preferred payment methods and use local currencies. Super Bowl Ads -> Temu -> 21M USD Ad Spend (discounted from 35M due to bulk order) Temu’s ad played five times. That won’t have been cheap. A 30-second slot during this year’s Super Bowl cost around $7m. JPMorgan Chase, a bank, reckons the company will spend $3bn on marketing this year, up from $1.7bn in 2023. #Temu, based in Boston, is an offshoot of #Pinduoduo, a Chinese #ecommerce firm. It is attempting to replicate the success of #Shein, a Chinese fast-fashion seller, which shot to success in #America in 2021 helped by clever marketing and ultra-low prices. In their bid to win over American shoppers the duo are spending so lavishly on digital ads that their footprints show up in big tech companies’ earnings. On February 1st Susan Li, the chief financial officer of #Meta, a social-media giant, said that Chinese advertisers contributed 10% of her firm’s revenue last year and five percentage points to its worldwide revenue growth. In November Josh Silverman, the boss of #Etsy, an online marketplace for artisan knick-knacks, blamed #Temu and Shein for pushing up the price of digital advertising.

This is how we pulled around ₹26 Lakhs in revenue last month (with 6.7x ROAS) for this DTC clothing brand even though there was a streak of algorithm fluctuations, low conversions & other issues.
