💥 Unveiling the Truth: My Frustrating Experiences with Guires Solutions and Optum India 💥 A few months ago, I was invited for an interview at Guires Solutions in Chennai for a Data Scientist role. I went through the entire process—HR round, technical round, and building a Machine Learning model. The HR team informed me that I had been selected for a Data Scientist position, starting as a 3-month internship leading to a full-time role. My family and friends were thrilled, but then... radio silence. After two weeks, I reached out, only to be told my application was on hold. They mentioned they'd contact me if a relevant role opened up. Déjà vu happened at Optum India, supposedly a BPO/KPO looking for a Data Analyst. Given my background in BPO/KPO and Data Analytics, I was excited. Five rounds later, the same story unfolded: on hold and then rejection after a month. 💢 It's frustrating and disrespectful. Companies with all their tech and knowledge still treat candidates like they're disposable. It's time HR departments and companies understand the impact of their actions and communicate transparently. Today, as usual, during my job hunt, I was on Internshala and searching for the jobs that fit my job EXPERIENCE. For context, my job experience is on "Freshers" level (5-6 months). But, my PERSONAL experience in Data Analytics is more than 8 MONTHS. So, I thought it was ENOUGH for me to start my job hunt. Coming back to the experience, I found an DA Internship posting! I saw the REQUIREMENTS and skill needed. The job description was one of the MOST apt job descriptions for me. I saw the company name and reached out to the HRs/Higher Ups. I successfully connected with one of the Co-founders. Very GENEROUS! He told me to contact the HR using the details he gave me. I contacted the HR, she was also VERY generous! I got an interview scheduled, tomorrow afternoon... But with an UNEXPECTED Twist! It is a Walk-in Interview! and the company is situated in Mumbai! Then, OF COURSE! I requested her to please schedule it Online. I am in U.P., and going to Maharashtra for a day is DEFINITELY not feasible! Taking the worst case scenario in mind, "Rejection", it is NOT! "So, what happened? Did it got scheduled?" NOPE! Still waiting for the answer... Office hours were OVER as soon as I requested her. I really hope that it gets scheduled ONLINE. Nonetheless, I will prepare for the interview today. So, I might not be able to post about my learning today. I will try my best to, but let's see what happens. [Apologies for the daily spam] Disclaimer - This sort of journaling has become an ideal mode to self reflect on my daily actions. At least, It keeps me engaged in a unidirectional conversation like standup that I can expect with colleagues in any professional scenario. Who knows that some of the viewers may get to engage with me, in these aspects on professional and personal domain; digitally & in-person. I feel it can be inspirational to someone too, who may be going through a similar phase on relative scales in his professional world. [Summary of the day] As I started my 23 months and 22 days of unemployment, I realized not to contradict anyone's personal choices and idealogies. It's what makes them different from me. Contradicting without a purpose also instills a feeling of me being an enemy or atleast not a friend when all I wanted to be, was a well wisher. Gladly, People read the previous post and chose to show empathy towards me especially realizing how crucial of an organ; Eye is ! Anyways, The bug of TFOD(Tensorflow object detection) was troubling me for last few days. Obviously Tensorflow's recent upgradation in 2.1.x suite caused it. Had to read a lot of stack overflow & blogs to fix. By the end of the day, I was glad to have fixed it and made a structural notebook, Few features like non maximum suppression still needs to be added in the object detection code but at least I'm happy that I made a presentable progress by the end of the day. Signing off for the day with the feeling of a significant contribution to opensource ! Hope that my learnings may help someone.
