What do you do when you have a bustling platform, but nowhere for your users to connect? You create a community. That’s exactly what Daphne Earp Hoppenot did. Spotting a need for event planners to come together in one space, Daphne launched a private community for event planners, spanning off her platform The Vendry. It has been such a success, not just because it provided a way for a tight-knit industry to connect and share knowledge through webinars, forums and newsletters. It also responded to the specific needs and quirks of the event planning industry - for example, eschewing public reviews that could cause a stir in the community, and instead, promoting personal recommendations and private P2P discussions. In my Events Portal series so far, we've looked at how an Events Overview page can be created, how to pass through values to an individual Event record to display the right details, and added a section to display any speakers that might be a part of the event. What about the person hosting the event who will do an introduction and maybe moderate questions? We might want to show their information too. In this post we will look at an an event team member to show who is hosting the event.
