QinetiQ wins €284M aerial training services contract with German armed forces 🪖✈️ QinetiQ, the global defence and security company, has reported that its global threat representation business had been awarded its largest and longest contract - from the German armed forces (Bundeswehr), air force, army, navy, and special forces. The 10-year aerial training services (ATS) deal is worth €284 million and comes with a two-year extension option. QinetiQ, which is headquartered in Farnborough, will provide a range of tailored services including joint terminal attack controller (JTAC) training, Red Air training and close air support. It will also offer maritime air operations, ground control intercept training, air traffic control training and target towing for ground based air defence systems - all delivered by its newly enhanced QinetiQ fleet of eleven PC-9 and four PC-12 aircraft. A standout among its units is the 4th Joint Communications Squadron (4JCS); part of the Joint Communications Support Element (Airborne). Activated on 15 September 2006, 4JCS is the only Airborne Signal Battalion-Level Unit in the Army Reserve. First commanded by LTC Richard DuBreuil, with its first Troop led by CPT Maritza Garrigapadilla, the Mustangs of 4JCS operated as a Global Response Force (GRF), with their own dedicated airborne and ground teams. Its unique setup allowed for rapid deployment and effective communication support teams in various scenarios, contributing to national security and global operations. Since their inception, the Mustangs has been constantly deployed all over the world within various Joint Task Forces in support of the Global War on Terror, humanitarian operations, and crises response. Today, they remain a critical part of the Joint Communications Support Element. Originally an active duty organization, JCSE grew to be one comprised of the best of the Active Duty Services, the Air National Guard, and the Army Reserve.
