Army HR is an integral part of the Sustainment Warfighting Function. FM 4-0 is fundamental to understanding how HR Operations, outlined in FM 1-0, nests with the Army's larger sustainment operational concepts.
NEW! FM 4-0, Sustainment Operations provides a doctrinal approach for armies, corps, divisions, and brigades to address sustainment challenges across the range of military operations, the competition continuum and the strategic contexts in which Army forces conduct large-scale combat operations. As the keystone sustainment publication, it describes how sustainment is embedded into all military operations, tasks, and activities. FM 4-0 also identifies the sustainment implications for the Army’s multidomain operating concept and describes how sustainment forces are arrayed against the operational framework to include sustainment considerations for operations in a maritime environment. "Army Materiel Command has been at the forefront of delivering record amounts of military aid to Ukraine as that nation defends against Russia’s unprovoked full-scale invasion that began in February 2022. Ukraine is a key regional strategic partner and remains an urgent security assistance priority for the United States. Much of AMC’s heavy lifting has been done by the U.S. Army Security Assistance Command and Army Sustainment Command, but the entire AMC and greater Army sustainment enterprise have had crucial roles, including Tank-automotive and Armaments Command, Army Contracting Command, and Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command. Each command and agency has unique contributions as it supports a whole-of-government approach to Russian aggression in Ukraine." #China's #Navy, also known as the People's Liberation Army Navy (#PLAN🇨🇳⚓️), appears to be altering its deployment strategy for the Gulf of #Aden mission. Traditionally, PLAN task forces have departed China #three times a year, at roughly four-month intervals. Recently, however, this schedule has shifted to extend deployments to #five months. This new pattern means fewer ships need to be deployed each year, reducing turnover time between task forces. This adjustment could enhance the operational readiness of the PLAN and potentially increase the number of ships available for missions in the western #Pacific, indicating strategic implications for #future maritime #contingencies. The Center for the Study of Chinese Military Affairs (#CMSI) has released CMSI Note 8, which details this change in deployment patterns. The note includes a comprehensive table listing all PLAN task forces deployed to the Gulf of Aden since 2009, with information on deployment dates, fleets, and involved ships, providing a valuable reference for analysts. Dennis J. Blasko, LTC (Ret.), authored the note, which highlights this operational shift. https://lnkd.in/eR9H8Gqa).
