I really wish if hiring someone was as simple as ordering food from your favourite restaurant, but believe me it’s not. Having said that, demanding from the companies to disclose the salary brackets is being as naive as a child who would dream to become a batman someday. Yes, that would be an ideal situation for people but it is not the best practice for the industry. Hence, you won’t find any corporate giant in major industries disclosing their salaries and benefits. Internal equity, market competitiveness, job role variability, confidentiality agreements, job description flexibility, avoiding salary inflation are only a few aspects of securing the details else you would see chaos everywhere and within the company too. Then there is no point of keeping the details of contracts and benefits confidential internally if we start disclosing the salary brackets to public. So the argument is interesting as a general discussion but is way too flawed to be practical in real world.
