My frequent travels, filled with the stories and emotions of passengers, have woven a tapestry of experiences that now beats at the core of my advocacy. As I stand at the crossroads of the aviation industry, I can no longer disregard the unacceptable and non-inclusive practices that affect passengers with protected characteristics. It's a visceral wake-up call, urging me to challenge the status quo, spark soul-stirring conversations, and drive the industry towards a significant transformation. ✊✈️ In a world more interconnected than ever, the economic consequences of excluding specific groups through inhumane and degrading treatment are not just statistics; they are stories etched in pain. It's not merely about fostering inclusion but recognising the profound potential of embracing diversity at every juncture of the aviation experience. 🌍💙 This shift is not just a professional evolution; it's a personal metamorphosis born out of passion, a burning desire to provoke thought, and a relentless commitment to disrupt narratives perpetuating exclusion. Is demand management the only realistic route to decarbonising aviation? UK-based climate charity Possible believes so. Given the current situation and the lack of viable solutions, the aviation industry cannot continue its business-as-usual strategy of pursuing growth with the distant promise of zero-emissions flying, which may not materialise. Therefore, they see demand reduction as the only practical way to lower aviation's share of emissions. "I struggle to see any way of flying in the next few decades that is not going to produce a huge amount of emissions. Realistically, it's not likely, which is why we keep coming back to demand constraint." Alaska Airlines as you mentioned “We know that reaching our sustainability goals – including net-zero carbon emissions by 2040 – will require investment and action on all fronts…” “…today, there isn’t enough SAF to meet demand – and we need to bring its cost down by creating scale…” Understanding this and taking actions to meet net zero by 2040 demonstrate the resolution and commitment Alaska Airlines has to reduce its environmental impact.
