Sitting courtside watching Dr. Ingrid Murra build Two Front has been one of the most inspiring things I've ever witnessed for three key reasons. 1. She. Does. Not. Stop. Grit (n) defined as "courage and resolve" simply doesn't do justice to the 24/7, 365 nature of 'hardcare obsession' Ingrid brings to her business. She IS Two Front, and every 5-star patient rating, 'You've been paid' email sent to dentists multiple times per day, and touchpoint you see online is nothing less than years of blood, sweat, and tears poured into cracking a business model that will one day be featured in no less than HBR, Forbes, WSJ, and the like. 2. Fierce Positivity Things get DIRE when you're building a business. I've seen it firsthand. Breaking point? How about breaking POINTS. And not just once in a while, but sometimes weekly during a tough season. Despite these challenging moments, Ingrid has a superhero-like ability to wake up spry, positive, and ready to shine brighter than the sun pretty much every day. If she's struggling, she surrounds herself with coaches, mentors, and friends who lift her up. There's no such thing as perfection, but there is such thing as finding your formula; Ingrid has cracked her formula for getting back up and dusting herself off when the universe doesn't turn lemons into lemonade; she also knows that's her responsibility and owns it. 3. Deep Caring For Her Team For Ingrid, her team is family. Full stop. This doesn't mean there isn't conflict - because of course there is - startup is war - but nothing is transactional and it makes a world of difference. It's easy to be cold and callus when you're in battle mode, but when a challenge emerges that she needs support with, she pulls in her coaches and advisors so she can navigate with love. We've seen centuries of businessmen who have written books, espoused 'how it's done' and provided examples to the world about the 'right' way to do things. But it's a new time with new rules and Ingrid is writing her own book. Maybe one day she'll put it down in ink and share it with us, so we can all learn how she did the impossible.

One of the most eye-opening things I’ve seen in my new role is that most successful practices have outgrown their ability to "sell to another doctor" upon retirement. Not to say they can’t, but they’d be doing so at a detriment to what their practice is worth. Patterson Regional DSO Conference April 12th Nice job Patterson! Great event and nice to hear from Stephen Thorne, Brian A. Colao, and a few other industry experts. Took home quite a few nuggets!! Appreciated the opportunity to share Bluetree Dental's story. Been an interesting journey. The focus has always bee on developing ways we can find the perfect balance between prioritizing both clinical and business principles as well as creating partnerships where there is a strong feeling of sound governance and accountability (relational responsibility). When joining a practice as an OHT or dentist there are any number of things you might not have thought of that will help you settle into your new job smoothly, here are three important things to find out. 1. Expectations regarding apppintment times, rebooking examinations 2. Read the operating instructions for the equipment such as x-ray machines, OPG, EMS Airflow and whitening light/equipment 3. Ask for a copy of the specialists the practice refers to and the process for writing referrals These are just a few examples. I will share nmore over this month. Practices vary on how organised they are with documentation and how much time and expertise other team members have to help you. It can be difficult to ask questions when you are feeling nervous starting a new job. But not asking them may make life way more difficult. Make a note each day of things that crop up and make sure you ask!
