The DGHV will be launching its pilot proof of concept project in August 2024. The DGHV has also completed its feasibility studies and is preparing for pre-feed of its 6GW hybrid facility producing in excess of 1m tons of green ammonia per annum. Last Friday’s Budapest Geothermal Energy Summit marked one of the energy-related events of Hungary’s EU presidency. This also meant that speakers from 27 countries were sharing their views on geothermal energy about topics ranging from technology through regulation to financing. I was mostly emphasizing the economic point of view, urging for realistic targets, reasonably differentiated subsidy schemes and the need for looking for sustainably financeable investments. LAC Dominican Republic Event – Thematic Session: Scaling Hydrogen Financing for Development and Industrial Decarbonization in LAC During the 6th Meeting of Energy Ministers of the ECPA - Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas, The World Bank’s #ESMAP and the Inter-American Development Bank jointly organized a high-level side event on hydrogen and industrial decarbonization. Financing challenges and the need for enabling policy frameworks were highlighted as well as the Energy Transition business opportunity. MDBs intend to strengthen their hydrogen and industry decarbonization activities in the region. The World Bank and ESMAP - Energy Sector Management Assistance Program are ready to support hydrogen projects with favorable financing. We are actively looking for #public and #private sector partners to bring #cleanhydrogen projects to the investment stage. We help with advantageous financing arrangements, risk management tools, and advise governments on creating conducive investment environments. Together, we can get these projects off the ground. #Latinamerica and the #Caribbean have the potential to scale up the green hydrogen 🌱 industry due to their vast renewable energy sources. There's a lot to unpack with this latest development. With a staggering 12 billion euros in joint funding, the numbers are undeniably exciting. Here's to hoping my back-of-the-envelop calculations are proven wrong, and that this venture exceeds expectations. 🤞💡 But consider this just for electrolysers: 3.2 GW, equivalent to a whopping 3,200 container-sized 1MW electrolysers. At a seemingly low cost of 200K euros each this eliminate more than half-a-budget. Will these numbers hold up? 🤨

15 February - European Commission approves up to €6.9 billion of State aid by seven Member States for the third Important Project of Common European Interest in the #hydrogen value chain. "The Member States will provide up to €6.9 billion in public funding, which is expected to unlock €5.4 billion in private investments. As part of this IPCEI, 32 companies with activities in one or more Member States, including small and medium-sized enterprises (‘SMEs'), will participate in 33 projects. IPCEI Hy2Infra will cover a wide part of the hydrogen value chain by supporting: - the deployment of 3.2 GW of large-scale #electrolysers to produce renewable hydrogen; - the deployment of new and repurposed hydrogen transmission and distribution #pipelines of approximately 2,700 km; - the development of large-scale #hydrogenstorage facilities with capacity of at least 370 GWh; - the construction of handling terminals and related port infrastructure for liquid organic hydrogen carriers ('LOHC') to handle 6,000 tonnes of hydrogen a year." #eu #climateaction #energytransition #wasserstoff EC press release - https://lnkd.in/d4P98h8B

❇ #GreenHydrogen - A Catalyst for Industrial Development Transformation: ➡ The new #GH2 #Policy Toolbox (by UNIDO, #IRENA and #IDOS) underscores the significance of green hydrogen production for developing countries and highlights the economic opportunities it presents throughout the #valuechain. Through engagement in both upstream and downstream GH2 production activities, developing countries can foster sustainable employment, create long-term value, bolster international competitiveness, and mitigate risks associated with global #hydrogen trade.
