Meet Out in Climate, a non-profit organization focused on building community among LGBTQ+ professionals in the climate and sustainability world. Since their beginning in 2022, Out in Climate has hosted over 25 events, connecting 1,000+ queer professionals among different sectors in the environmental space like climate startups, investors, corporations, government and NGOs. Marginalized populations are disproportionately harmed by climate change and are underrepresented in the spaces where solutions are designed. This is why it’s crucial that the environmental community not only includes but encourages perspectives from historically marginalized peoples. JND Legal Administration, support that is superficial is getting called out these days. Supporting the LGBTQ+ community requires more than making a post and supporting gay white men… you’ve still got to work on eliminating racism and sexism in your workplace before you can be any kind of positive ally. Yes, I know Jennifer Keough and Neil Zola (who has either removed his profile, or is a sexist and racist coward who blocked me) don’t care. However, Jen seems to care about her social media image and Neil seems to care about liability. A push on both could help towards change. Holding yourself to the standards of Seattle would help your social media image, reduce liability, and if done correctly, would increase both morale and productivity. LGBTQIA+ environmental justice experts and advocates are crucial in the ongoing effort to protect the environment and communities disproportionately affected by climate change. These inspiring individuals motivate us daily to continue striving for a healthier, more just, and prosperous world. Why I stand up for what's important, even though it can be exhausting. Yesterday I posted about a panel I was on last week at an YPO event. Stephen England-Hall has organised the event and was moderating the panel. After we had introduced ourselves, and talked a little about our lifes work, Stephen asked me how do I keep standing up for what is right even when it's hard. It was a great question and something I wanted the audience to think hard about because it is hard to stand up for what is right. I know it's hard to stand up for what is right because on more than one occasion, when I have stood up for LGBT+ issues or the need for urgent climate action, I have experienced not just a differing of opinion but deliberately offensive or hateful messages. Standing up for what is right, is like sticking your neck to get chopped right where it hurts. But the thing is, I know too much. I know too much about what is happening in the world not to stand up for what is right. And to be honest, I honestly don't know how more people can know what they know, and not stand up. 🌈✨ Celebrating Unity & Progress: Pride and Juneteenth ✨🌈 Hey LinkedIn family, As we step into June, we find ourselves at the vibrant intersection of Pride Month and Juneteenth—a time to celebrate diversity, resilience, and the journey toward equality. Here at Blue Star Recyclers, these themes resonate deeply with our mission and our hearts. Most of us working here are autistic or have other disabilities and barriers to employment, and our shared goal is to create meaningful job opportunities for everyone. We embrace our differences, knowing they make us stronger and richer as a community. Just like the LGBTQ+ community and the Black community, we believe that every individual deserves to be seen, heard, and valued. This month, we reflect on the significance of Juneteenth—a day marking the end of slavery in the United States and a powerful reminder of the ongoing fight for racial justice. We also celebrate Pride Month, honoring the LGBTQ+ community's courage and spirit in the face of adversity. Both movements teach us the importance of perseverance, solidarity, and the continuous push for a world where everyone can thrive. In our daily work of recycling and refurbishing electronics, we are committed to ethical practices and a circular economy.
