🔵 Understanding Kidney Transplants 🔵 Curious about kidney transplants? Here’s a quick rundown! Kidney transplants involve surgically placing a healthy kidney from a donor into a person with kidney failure. Donors can be living or deceased, and compatibility is crucial. After a successful transplant, the new kidney helps filter blood, eliminating the need for dialysis. It’s a life-changing procedure, offering a chance for a better quality of life. However, it requires lifelong care, including medications to prevent rejection. Organ donation is a tremendous gift; consider becoming a donor to save lives! Got questions? Feel free to ask! 🌟 #KidneyTransplant #OrganDonation #HealthAwareness

Blood grouping system: 📌Karl Landsteiner in the year 1901 discovered the ABO blood grouping system. This paved the way for the discovery of various RBC antigens present on the surface of the RBC. Decades later in the year 1930 he recieved Nobel prize for his discovery in the field of medicine. 📌Though multiple blood grouping systems are available, most commonly practiced blood grouping system is ABO and RH system. 📌In ABO blood grouping system, based on the presence or absence of A and B antigens , individuals are classified as A , B ,AB and O blood group 📌Everytime when you donate your blood grouping is done and If you have any doubts regarding the blood group , we would clarify. #bloodgrouping #transfusionmedicine #blooddonation

🩸 **Blood Groups Matching 🔍 **Understanding Compatibility:** The ABO system categorizes blood into four types: A, B, AB, and O, while the Rh factor (+/-) plays a crucial role in compatibility. 💉 **Universal Donors and Recipients:** Type O- is considered the universal donor, while AB+ is the universal recipient, ensuring safe transfusions. 🌟 **Spread Awareness:** Share this post to help educate others about the importance of knowing blood type compatibility for life-saving transfusions! #BloodTypes #DonateLife 🔍 **Understanding Compatibility:** - A: Compatible with A and AB - B: Compatible with B and AB - AB: Compatible with AB - O: Compatible with A, B, AB, and O 💉 **Universal Donor and Recipient:** - Universal Donor: O- - Universal Recipient: AB+

●●● What’s your blood type? ●●● This is important because it ensures that blood transfusions are safe and effective. Blood transfusions involve the transfer of blood or blood products from one person to another, and it is essential that the blood is compatible with the recipient's blood type to avoid adverse reactions. Proper blood typing and cross-matching can help to prevent transfusion reactions and other complications. Have you ever donated or received blood? Do you remember your blood type or that info doesn't bother you? Would be curious to know your thoughts on this in the comments. 👉 For more follow #MedycznaCiekawostkaNaPiątek Source: Reena Strehle

Principal Director & HOD- Hepatology & Liver Transplant at Max Healthcare, Director & Founder- LivWell Health Foundation, Director & Founder- Liver.Care
Further endorsing our recent publication on limitation of transient elastography in LDLT setting, highlighting this case which I saw last week: 54 yrs lady, donated right lobe of liver 10 yrs back, gets a scare as her Fibroscan shows LSM of 18.5 kPa ! She is clinically fine, with normal LFT. This case shows the fallacy of VCTE measurement in healthy right lobe donors in whom the remnant left lobe regenerates towards the left leading to error in LSM values! So interpret the Fibroscan values in relation to the clinical scenario & avoid it during follow up of right lobe liver donors!!

This is what started my advocacy for cystic fibrosis. Before we found Piper's Angels Foundation, we were doing walks to raise money for a national CF organization. But a local, grassroots organization that focuses on the social determinant of health for someone with CF stood out to us more, so we decided to pivot and started getting involved with Piper's Angels & the Crossing For CF. It was the best decision we made, we haven't looked back since! If you want to learn more about The Crossing, the video below is a short explanation of what we do and why.
Did you know that our flagship fundraising event built our foundation? It's called the Crossing For Cystic Fibrosis and we are proud of what it's grown to! If you've never heard of it or wanted to learn more, our explainer video below is a good place to start! Travis Suit Tatiana Tims Romi Wallach Paul Smolchek Vanessa Calás https://lnkd.in/eUYhs9dc

If you are AB-negative, you have the rarest blood type of all! Only 1% of people are AB-. They can only receive other negative blood types: O-, A-, B-, and other AB-. AB- plasma is often in short supply, but patients of all blood types can receive it. Donors with this blood type may be asked to donate whole blood, which is broken down into red cells, platelets, and plasma Whether you're 🅰🆎🅱🅾, remember when #YouGiveTheyLive ♥ Learn more about your type 👉 SouthTexasBlood.org/MyType

This is your friendly reminder to come on out on Saturday May 18th from 9am - 2pm at the American Red Cross - South Mississippi Chapter in Gulfport and join Morgan Legacy Group, LLC in donating blood for the sickle cell community. We need a diverse culture of community members to donate! Here are 3 sickle cell disease facts related to blood transfusions: 1. Blood transfusions can help manage complications of sickle cell disease. These complications include acute anemia, painful episodes called vaso occlusive crises, and organ damage. By infusing healthy red blood cells, transfusions can help increase oxygen flow, reduce pain, and prevent further complications. 2. Frequent blood transfusions can lead to iron overload. Red blood cells are rich in iron, and with repeated transfusions, excess iron can accumulate in the body. This iron overload can damage organs like the liver, heart, and endocrine system. To address this, iron chelation therapy is often used to remove excess iron from the body. 3. Finding compatible blood can be challenging. People with sickle cell disease often have complex blood types, making it difficult to find compatible blood for transfusions. This is why blood donation is especially important for sickle cell patients, as it helps ensure a readily available blood supply. Donate blood. Save a life. It really is that simple!
