In 2016, a friend gave me a set of Gillette razors. Although the price seemed high at first, I was surprised by the durability and quality of the product. After regular use and careful maintenance—cleaning with alcohol and storing after each use—this razor has remained in excellent condition until 2024 ( now !!!) . 🌟 Honoring Mothers: Reflecting on Gender Equality 🌟 As we celebrate Mother's Day, I find myself reflecting on the invaluable lessons my own mother taught me about equality and respect. Raised by a single mother, I learned early on that domestic chores were not solely the responsibility of women but a shared duty among all family members. This upbringing instilled in me the importance of treating everyone with respect, regardless of gender, race, or any other factor. Entering the professional world at P&G, I carried these principles with me. Working alongside diverse teams with over 50% female representation, I believed I embodied the values of equality and inclusion. However, it wasn't until a MARC workshop in Panama, a few years ago I truly grasped the depth of gender inequality. In just a few minutes, the workshop opened my eyes to the privileges I, as a man, had unknowingly enjoyed and the daily challenges women face, both personally and professionally. It was a sobering realization that despite my awareness, I had been a passive supporter rather than an active advocate for change. Mother's Day serves as a poignant reminder that there is always more to learn and do in the pursuit of true equality. Awareness and support are essential, but they must be accompanied by action. Let's honor the mothers in our lives by committing to being not just passive supporters, but active allies in the fight for gender equality. Together, we can create a more inclusive world for all. FMCG insights week #1…done So many young Black people aren’t aware of career opportunities within the Consumer Goods industry. So last month, our Psalt FMCG member companies opened their doors. Psalt supports our Talent to successfully transition into the world of work. They have now gained the richest of work experiences. Their eyes have been opened to the Consumer Goods industry…and after an experience like this…it’s going to be hard for them to look away! We’re still buzzing with the talent we encountered during Insights Week. The passion, curiosity, and enthusiasm displayed by these young individuals were truly inspiring. Success is not a moment in time, it’s a journey. And it requires sustained energy and motivation. So in recent weeks, our team has been exploring how we achieve both high and ‘optimal’ performance - considering not just occasional peaks but also sustained excellence. While all of us naturally cannot be at our best 100% of the time, each of us has the capacity to attain optimal performance. This approach puts a greater focus on personal well-being and periods of recovery – the secret to thriving CONSISTENTLY in the face of life’s challenges. We recently completed a dipstick check-in with our Europe People and Culture team at The Coca-Cola Company - and while we recognize the great results we achieved, we see a lot of opportunities to support everyone to achieve optimal performance. There are a few building blocks we can start with, like clarifying and aligning priorities, boldly cutting unnecessary workload, and ensuring everyone’s wellbeing continues to be at the heart of everything that we do.
