Very excited to be able to say that I will be joining Lloyds Banking Group in June as an Engineering Team Manager :)
My redundancy has been incredibly stressful, but also very short compared to what a lot of people experience. However, the thing that blew me away was the support I got from my network through job hunting, for which I am so incredibly grateful! A special thanks has to go to Sarath Chand, without whom I would unlikely have the role I'm going to be taking up.
Over the years, I've never done anything to proactively "network", however the past month has shown me just how much I've organically grown it and gained some incredible allies and friends along the way.
It has made me think and reflect on what networking means, and I came to the following reflections:
- Networking is about being a good colleague, supporting everyone around you and being a trusted member of the team. Whether junior or senior, manager or team member, people remember you for reliably being there when they needed you.
- Networking is doing your job well, you don't have to be the best individually, but most of us are in teams! People remember you for being a good member of the team, contributing, listening and getting stuck in.
- Networking is about being willing to stick up for the people around you. We live in a world where life is tougher for some people than others, equity and equality is still a target. So be an ally, be someone people WANT in their organisation, and not someone they reluctantly accept.
Do networking events help, yes - of course. The Scotland Women in Technology also helped me get this role, but talking to people you don't know can be TERRIFYING, so start by growing the network around you that you do know - turn colleagues into allies, turn allies into fans. One day, that might just help you get a job!

Why are we such a close-knit team?
Because everyone that joins Rose Group believes in, and agrees to stick to, our 5 core values:
➤ Inclusivity - acceptance and respect
➤ Camaraderie - always working as a team
➤ Commitment - seeing the job through, and doing what we say we will
➤ Change - continuous improvement and learning
➤ Communication - being open, honest and trustworthy
And it's not just lip-service. We keep these core values at the front-of-mind in everything we do, whether it's chatting with our internal and industry colleagues, serving customers at the trade counter, or speaking with suppliers.
We even won the Builders' Merchants News award for Diversity and Inclusion in Merchanting in 2020!
Making sure we're all on the same wave length means we're happy at work, we don't get the "Sunday Fear" and our customers choose us time and time again.

Please take the time to #congratulate our region’s newest #branchmanager, headed up 87 North to our Latham Branch…
Patric “Patty Gunz” Guerra
Pat started his career in Area U at 24H3 in May of 2018! He quickly became a standout with his personal #performance and his team player mentality! During a year and half time at H3, Pat was an Area MVP 4X, Top 10 14X, Top 3 3X, and qualified every month as an #managementtrainee and #managementassistant! During his time at H3, the team posted their 3/6/12 month #customerservice scores ALL OVER 90+!
Pat was then #promoted to #assistantmanager for the Beacon location in 24CC. Showing great #flexibility and #leadership by searching for #promotions even outside of HH! Pat continued his #consistency as a top performer in his new role, being qualified all 5 months there. His team had the #1 Net Other in the region for 3 straight months, while again posting 90+ Customer Service score!
Pat, like many others, had to deal with the crazy COVID world, and really did tell the story of #resiliency! Pat was told “no” on several interview attempts and then was a part of the COVID challenges with staffing being lessened. Pat was 100% on board with coming back home as the Assistant Manager at 24H3, where he had great success. Pat has been in his position for just over 3 years now, and has many success stories added to his resume. He also has a unique story where he was in for 7 Branch Manager interviews over this timeline, and could have given up after being told no several times. Pat remained #disciplined, #positive in his thinking, and #resilient. He also ensured that his performance was continue to climb, where some would let it drop. He helped aide in over 10 skill/grill, 4 AM Promotions, multiple intern converts, 20 to 40% DEG in back to back years, all while remaining qualified as an Assistant every single month. He and his H3 team currently hold an outstanding 90/89/90 3/6/12 Customer Service score while increasing Net Profit by 42%!
An unbelievable story of sticking the course and believing in your path!
Pat would like to thank Rich Asner, Barry Gray Jr., Mark Gunsch, and his H3 team!
#Congrats again Pat!
Welcome to the Capital and we are excited for your continued success!

Excited to announce that I have joined HSBC to lead their Global Institutional Client effort across Global Banking & Markets. Thank you Greg Guyett, Michael Roberts, Gerry Keefe and Lisa McGeough, am grateful for the opportunity and eager to work with the talented team to grow our client franchise.
As a very average but passionate tennis player, and equally passionate Dartmouth College alum, Roger Federer’s commencement speech this weekend resonated with me on multiple levels as I embark on this next chapter of my career. His three “tennis lessons”:
“Effortless is a myth” - For the grinders who persevere and have grit… you know who you are, even when you make it look effortless!
“It’s only a point” - Not dwelling on every point (won or lost) frees you to commit to the next challenge… fascinating to learn that Roger won nearly 80% of his matches, but only 54% of points played!
“Life is bigger than the court” - Extremely focused yet with global perspective and balance… love his passion for life outside the court with family, friends and philanthropy.
While “THINK GLOBAL, ACT LOCAL” may no longer be the official HSBC mantra, it has and continues to speak to me as a guiding principal for client solutions and life.
I look forward to partnering with our clients at this pivotal time in global markets - happy to play tennis or dust off the pong skills too!

I take Accountability & Responsibility of my, then, undiagnosed & lack of knowledge of PTSD & abuse I was experiencing- did you know about spiritual abuse 🤦🏽
I was led to believe I was a TOP employee:
🕛Dedicated countless hours, using 6 Sigma/Lean skills to enhance efficiency, supporting ERGs, & championing DEI initiatives alongside the Chief DEI Officer.
🕒 Persuaded reluctant clients to open their doors monthly, ensuring each one felt like a VIP.
🕞Achieved record-breaking sales in January, securing a $500K+ deal with a global financial giant.
🕓 Received numerous "Kuddos" emails, awards & even Senior Executive's email for me to use the corporate card to charge an elaborate dinner as thank you on "him" (never redeemed it to uphold compliance.)
🕓Received a gift from HR/Marketing post-layoff, thanking me for my dedication to promote & stay true to the companies values (still in the box as proof of date -a "gaslit brain" needs physical proof this happened!!)
Despite all of this & the conversations of advancement I was made out to be the Fool - where I am no longer welcome....

My leadership experiences: 11
I had just launched a reward campaign for branch teams achieving their year end savings deposit target. The reward; a champions' trophy to be presented to the entire branch team on stage. No individual winners! If the branch achieves the target, the whole team comes on stage to lift the trophy. The only catch was that the R&R event would be held only if the circle also met its year-end target. The idea was to seek alignment of goal and purpose till the last resource.
Now, it wasn't any innovative brilliance. The logic behind the campaign was really simple. It had always intrigued me that while we made a lot of noise around team work, when it came to rewarding performance, we almost always tuned our sight on individuals. Else, why every corporate R&R was all song and dance around over achiever individuals. So much so that even when the team performance was rewarded, it was always the leader who walked on the stage, all alone, to receive the award.
In the process, perhaps we ignored the fact that whenever a team met its assigned goal, every member of the team must have had contributed, in various proportion, of course. So, why didn't we ever give recognition to the whole team collectively and acknowledged and applauded the contribution, however tiny or large, of each member of the team.
It was last month of the year as Rajiv Anand, our ED-Retail Banking came calling. He wanted to interact with branch teams in Amritsar to see if we were geared up for the year-end. Brimming with confidence, I boasted about my supposedly brilliant initiative and bragged that how my whole team is aligned on our year-end target. In reality, deep inside, I was scared of what if he asked people and nobody knew anything about it.
My heart almost sank as, once at the branch, ED-RB popped the most dreaded question; "Do you guys know what is your circle's year-end target?" As I was ducking for cover, a voice emerged; "Yes sir. We know the circle's year-end target and we will meet it. Asi trophy jitange sir."
The guy standing tall was a sales executive, literally our last resource.
No prizes for guessing that we met our year-end savings deposit target that year.
#goalalignment is like an symphony where everyone plays a different instrument (job responsibility) but they read from a common music sheet to create a beautiful sound together.

In a period of uncertainty, sometimes Social Media is a good reminder of things you have felt or said and honestly just forgot about.
I KNOW I am a great employee and that when I commit to a job I commit to learning everything. it drives me crazy to not understand my job.
Below is part of that memory.
"My friend reminded me all those years with AT&T trained me for this... No one trains you better than them on how to survive... Walked away 12y ago from over 80k a year and never looked back... You don't walk away from that kind of money without learning some good and bad lessons.
People have no idea what you used to do unless they ask... They have no idea what you are capable of... I was a rep, an Rd, a rep again, on the tech team, trained, RD again, account executive, reports and technology Manger, rewards and recognition, finally leaving as an operation manager... I "retired" because I could not because I had too. I survived the PacBell, SBC Global and finally AT&T merger. LOL that left some scares! In mobility you were either blue or orange... Or like me both depending on the system!"
With each experience I have grown and learned new skills. I have also taken all I have learned from one job into another to excel.
So excited to start my next, as of now unknown, journey.
