We raised €500K in 1 month for 4 Sports and Media Startups Despite the prevailing tough market conditions, I'm thrilled to share that we've successfully secured €500,000 for four startups in the sports and media industries, with twice that amount on the horizon. When I speak to founders they almost without exception tell me they are struggling to raise. And to be honest, a lot of the times it's very clear why they are failing.. Below the 5 points which work for me! 1. Storytelling is Everything. Don't just sell your product; sell your vision. Share why you started, what sets you apart, and how each investor is crucial to your journey. Connecting emotionally with investors can turn interest into commitment. 2. Leverage Your Network. The right introductions can make all the difference. Cultivate your network continuously—remember, the most impactful opportunities often come from a warm intro. 3. Build a Stellar Team. Surround yourself with top talent who believe in your mission as much as you do. Empower them, trust them, and most importantly, start now. Every moment counts, and procrastination can be the enemy of opportunity. 4. Be Bold. Entrepreneurship is not for the faint-hearted. It requires bold, decisive actions—whether that's stepping onto the stage, closing a challenging deal, or investing back into your business aggressively. Comfort zones are the limits within which dreams fade. 5. Talk to the Right People. Developing a valuable network takes time but start by identifying and connecting with key influencers who can accelerate your growth. Be open, be generous, and don't hesitate to ask for what you need. This led me to take on operational roles, eventually inspiring me to start my own venture. My passion lies in nurturing innovative ideas and helping start-ups scale their impact. 2. What are you most looking forward to at SevenVentures Pitch Day 2024? Are there any current start-up trends or innovations that you are particularly excited about? I am excited to share my experiences and ask insightful questions that can benefit the audience and other start-ups. One trend that excites me is the generational shift from baby boomers and the silent generation to Gen Y and Gen Z, and how start-ups can leverage this transition. This shift brings new perspectives and opportunities for innovation. 3. How can Pitch Day finalists pitch to impress you this year? I want to see a sustainable business model. Not just a fancy one-product-store but a whole community ecosystem. It's crucial to move beyond viewing customers as mere buyers and aim to turn them into passionate fans and active contributors. 4. And lastly - what do you want to see from a Pitch Day winner? I want to see the winner succeed with their idea and company, becoming a role model for others who face challenges in starting up. Compared to start-ups, it's easier and more fun to manage a brand that has grown to an extent.
