Heraeus Remloy launches largest #recycling plant for rare earth magnets in Europe. ♻️ Did you know that rare earth #magnets are essential for the #energytransition, #electromobility and #digitalization? 💡 Although demand is high, supply is expected to exceed demand as early as 2026. In response to this challenge, Heraeus Remloy has opened the largest recycling facility for #rare earth magnets in Bitterfeld, Germany. 📍 This facility produces nanocrystalline rare earth #magnetic powders from recycled end-of-life electronic equipment. 🔌Transforming #WasteHeat into Opportunity 🔄 What can be done with excess heat from machines or thermodynamic processes? The answer is: #reuse it. With the right technology, here are some innovative solutions in action: · Odense, Denmark: a globally advanced #DataCenter recovers 100,000 MWh of energy annually, heating around 7,000 homes. · Helsingborg, Sweden: Since 1974, the Kemira #ChemicalPlant has cut carbon emissions by 171,000 tons per year by utilizing waste heat. · Hamburg, Germany: Aurubis #CopperPlant recovered waste heat can potentially reduce CO2 emissions by 140,000 tons annually. There are many examples highlighting how repurposing waste heat can drive #sustainability.
