EMM has been appointed to lead a comprehensive Socioeconomic Impact Assessment (SEIA) for Rio Tinto's operations in Queensland’s Western Cape region. This critical project will inform future planning as Rio Tinto considers expansions at their Amrun operations and prepares for the closure of East Weipa and Andoom mines. The SEIA which will begin this month, will involve engagement with communities, Traditional Owners, local businesses, councils, and Rio Tinto employees to ensure that all voices are heard and considered. The process presents an opportunity for stakeholders to have their say and also understand any impacts and opportunities that these changes might bring for the community. Our team will be conducting interviews, and confidential surveys across Weipa, Napranum, Mapoon, Aurukun, and New Mapoon, gathering valuable insights that will guide Rio Tinto’s future plans in the region. Novo Resources Corp (TSX:NVO, OTCQX:NSRPF, ASX:NVO) executive co-chairman and acting CEO Mike Spreadborough joins Proactive’s Tylah Tully to discuss the company’s September quarterly, which proved productive with significant exploration progress in Western Australia and Victoria. The company is in a strong financial position, holding A$6.7 million in cash and A$44.6 million in investments as of September 30, 2024. Novo's focus remains on its highly prospective portfolio, particularly the Belltopper Project In Victoria and Pilbara region in Western Australia. Drilling at the Nunyerry North Project in the Pilbara achieved positive results, including extending the high-grade Main Lode over 500 metres and identifying high-grade gold along the Estrid Fault. Key results included 13 metres at 2.68 g/t gold and 11 metres at 2.20 g/t gold, among others. The reason? A deepening culture of corruption, bullying, and deceit. I witnessed firsthand how the company silenced dissent and manipulated truth, all to protect its leadership. Despite the personal and professional costs, I could no longer stand by. The journey was brutal, and the betrayals were gut-wrenching. But even after everything, I remain committed to integrity. My story is a testament to the high price of standing up for what's right and a call to others to keep fighting.

The First Nations Major Projects Coalition (FNMPC) held their 7th Annual conference ‘Our Collective Advantage: Indigenous Consent’ in Toronto on April 22-23, 2024. Communities Economic Development Fund sponsored 13 attendees representing 8 Manitoba First Nations attended the conference including: • Norway House Cree Nation • Garden Hill First Nation • Tatakwayak Cree Nation • Misipawistik Cree Nation • Bunibonibee Cree Nation • Mathais Colomb First Nation • Kiciwapa Cree Nation • Northlands Denesuline First Nation The conference was FNMPC’s biggest event by far, with over 1500 delegates, 200+ companies and over 450 Indigenous representatives. The main theme was showcasing how companies that honour and incorporate Indigenous consent across their business and supply chains hold a collective advantage over those who do not. Key topics including the unveiling of the National Indigenous Electrification Strategy, Free, Prior and Informed Consent, Canadian Mining and First Nations, and Indigenous Women in Finance.
