Jobs and Skills Australia (JSA) has introduced a new data series called Total New Vacancies (TNV), which estimates the total number of job openings nationwide each quarter. It complements existing labour market data like the JSA Internet Vacancy Index (IVI) and ABS Job Vacancy Series. JSA has adjusted its Internet Vacancy Index to account for changes in online recruitment trends, providing a more accurate estimate of new vacancies each quarter. This new series offers a broader view of the job market, helping policymakers, businesses, and job seekers better understand employment trends. JSA is seeking feedback and suggestions for improvement on this initial experimental release. Provide your input to help shape the future of the TNV https://buff.ly/3BR7EZ4 #LabourMarket #EmploymentTrends #Workforce #WorkforceTraining #WorkforceDevelopment #IndustrySkills

The National Transport Commission (NTC) invites feedback on the draft Heavy Vehicle National Law Amendment Bill and Regulations. The NTC is finalising the delivery of an updated Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL). In September 2024, Australian transport ministers approved policy changes to the HVNL based on the NTC's recommendations. The changes update fatigue record-keeping and enforcement, raise general mass limits, increase vehicle length and height (subject to safety assessments), and introduce a new National Auditing Standard. These updates, outlined in the Reforms to Heavy Vehicle National Law Decision Regulation Impact Statement, follow extensive consultation with industry, government transport agencies, police, local governments, the NHVR, and other stakeholders. With these approvals, the NTC is advancing to the final stages of delivering this updated law, including public consultation on the exposure drafts of the amendment bill and regulations. Exposure drafts are preliminary versions of laws and regulations released to gather stakeholder feedback. This consultation ensures the draft legislation aligns with the policy agreed to by ministers and will function as intended once implemented. Public consultation closes on Thursday, 21 November 2024. Visit the website for more information on how to provide feedback or register for an upcoming information session. https://buff.ly/3Ym30tQ #HeavyVehicle #TransportSector #RegulatoryFramework #TransportReform #VehicleTechnology #TransportSystem

Public Skills Australia, in partnership with the Department of Defence of Australia and the Australian Defence College, identified a need to address a competency and skills gap in the safe testing and evaluation of explosive ordnance. Through their partnership, they aim to enhance the development of training products for Defence Explosive Ordnance Qualifications within the Defence sector. The training package development will review and upgrade Defence Explosive Ordnance qualifications to equip personnel with the essential knowledge to: - safely test explosive substances and articles - develop explosive ordnance test plans - carry out explosive ordnance testing and evaluation Public Skills Australia identified AUSMASA as a key stakeholder for targeted consultation, given that Explosive Ordnance units are used in the mining industry. The consultation activities will ensure that AUSMASA and other relevant stakeholders remain informed about this development. The consultation period is scheduled from 14 October 2024 to 11 November 2024. For more information about this project or to see the complete list of organisations identified for targeted consultation, please visit the website: https://lnkd.in/gEGBRpNm #DefencePersonnel #DefenceReserves #Defenceontractors #TrainingProducts #DefenceEducation
