Ask R U OK? Any Day of the year because a conversation could change a life. At AUSMASA, we understand the importance of mental health and well-being in the workplace. Simply asking someone how they are doing can make a significant difference. Here are some tips to help initiate and navigate meaningful conversations on R U OK? Any Day: • Choose the right setting: Find a private, comfortable space where the person feels safe. Choose a time when neither of you are rushed or stressed. • Approach with empathy: Be genuine in your concern and ask open-ended questions like, "How have you been feeling?" to encourage sharing. • Listen actively: Give your full attention by eliminating distractions and acknowledging their feelings. • Be supportive, not judgmental: Avoid offering advice unless asked. Validate their feelings without trying to "fix" them. • Offer practical support: Ask how you can help and encourage seeking professional assistance if appropriate. • Follow up: Check in regularly to show ongoing care and support. • Take care of yourself: Recognise your limits and seek support when needed. • Be prepared for different responses: Respect if they are not ready to talk and manage your emotions by reaching out for help if necessary. These steps can help build trust and foster a supportive environment for meaningful open conversations. Join the virtual event hosted by R U OK? and tune in live at 12 pm (AEST) on 12 September 2024. Mental Health Awareness Week is important to highlight how some people may be struggling, but we must make sure we check in with each other all year not just this week. For myself, I have struggled to cope with some issues that have happened in my life over the last 6 months. Would anyone know how it has affected me? Probably not. A smile and a joke can hide many things. Am I any better at reaching out to people to check in? No, I need to do better not just this week but every week. A how are you doing? Goes a long way. #mentalhealth #colleagues #friends #reachout #howareyou?

Nugget 4: The Power of Talking We all go through tough times, and sometimes keeping everything bottled up can make things worse. That's where the power of talking comes in. Sharing your struggles can be incredibly helpful. Here's why: It allows you to process your emotions. Talking things out can help you gain clarity on your thoughts and feelings. You get a different perspective. A trusted friend, family member, or therapist can offer support and guidance you might not have considered. It reduces isolation. Knowing you're not alone in your struggles can be a tremendous relief. Who can you talk to? Choose someone you trust and feel comfortable opening up to. Therapist offer a safe, confidential space to talk about anything that's bothering you. There are therapists who specialize in men's mental health issues. Connecting with others who understand what you're going through can be very empowering. Here are some tips for reaching out: Start small. You don't have to share everything at once. Begin with a specific issue that's been bothering you. Be open and honest. The more you share, the better the person can understand and support you. Focus on finding someone who listens without judgment. Remember, reaching out is a sign of strength. It takes courage to admit you need help, but the benefits can be life-changing. Don't suffer in silence - there are people who care about you and want to help. #MensMentalHealth #ReachOut #MentalHealthSupport

I've hit rock bottom more times than I can count. And just when I thought things couldn't get any worse, I discovered that Rock Bottom actually has a basement. The strange thing is that it wasn't always obvious to those around me. I'd still show up to work like nothing was wrong or carry on with life as if everything was normal. But deep down, I was really struggling. It was like wearing a mask in front of others and finally taking it off when I was alone. However, I'm grateful those dark days are now behind me. Day 25 of Gratitude Challenge! 💙 Today marks the end of Mental Health Awareness Month, but not the end of my gratitude journey! 🌟 I've been practicing active gratitude, which means consciously appreciating the people and things in my life. This simple act can transform how we experience the world, making even the toughest days feel a bit brighter. Today, I want to give a shout-out to my incredible friend, Robert W. Jones . Thank you, Robert, for being such a positive force! 🙌 ======= My challenge to you: 1) Post 3 short videos (or more) thanking someone. 2) Tag Formula EQ Academy & #gratitudechallenge 3) Challenge your 3 friends in your post to thank 3 more people. To everyone watching, I challenge you to express gratitude to someone in your life. It’s an amazing experience that can uplift both you and them.
