Kia is gearing up to make a splash in the commercial vehicle sector with its electrified commercial van lineup, unveiled at CES 2024. While still in the concept stage, Kia is committed to entering the global commercial van space swiftly. In an interview with SAE Media at NTEA’s Work Truck Week 2024, Tim Walker, director of fleet and remarketing, discussed Kia's strategy, including the goal to achieve zero carbon emissions in its fleet by 2045. The lineup includes four models, with the PV7 being the largest and the PV5 offering various configurations. Kia plans to leverage modular design for interchangeability between cargo, rideshare, and other setups. These front-wheel-drive vans boast innovative features such as the ability to tap into the van's battery for auxiliary power needs. Franconia-Thuringia Express sprints with Siemens Mobility trains on the Nuremberg-Erfurt high-speed line. Happy to share that, just in time for the summer timetable change the Desiro HC Trains equipped with Trainguard 200 OBU entered passenger service on VDE8 on June 9th. This is the first time a regional train has been fitted with #ETCS to run at up to 190 km/h on the VDE8 in regular passenger operations. As a result, the travel times between cities along the VDE 8 (Nuremberg -Coburg-Erfurt) for Commuter trains have been reduced significantly. For example the schedule between Coburg and Erfurt by regional train has been reduced from more than 3 hours to only 36 minutes. A big thank you to the whole project team to reach this aim.
