Then, the second step is knowing what technology we can use to leverage business objectives or solve business problems." NEW POST ALERT Cycling with this small aspiring champ taught me some valuable lessons for 2024: 1. Each time we had an ascend, a descend was waiting for us as a reward. For this reason, we never gave up on our 18kms journey nomatter how hard it became. 2. With the way our roads are set up, it's a struggle to cycle in Kenya and as a result you have to be on a constant look out for all manner of road users: cars, motorbikes, pedestrians e.t.c. Therefore, as his leader, I had to multitask between leading him from the front to the back. In places I thought he needed me to lead him due to uncertainties infront, i quickly peddled assuming the front position and clear the way for him. In places i wanted him to gain confidence, i ushered him to the front to take lead. Here, i would shield him from behind incase God forbid, something went wrong. This made him feel super confident that he could also lead giving us some of the best speeds. This got me thinking about leadership. As it has always been assumed, good leaders lead from the front. As novel as this concept is, the approach limits growth. However, leading from the back alone also, can't work in isolation. A good leader must be able to alternate between leading from the front and back to build a better team. This is a learning I'll be taking to 2024 for sure. #CheckinNuggets #2024 #leadershipdevelopment

My first The IRONMAN Group race in Langkawi. It was a 70.3 race - 1.8 km ocean swim, 90 km rolling bike, and 22 km run in brutal heat. Two things an Ironman race teaches - Your preparation has got to be good, and it's about pacing yourself and knowing your aerobic limit. This race has changed my operating process. Last time, when I was building my startup, we had a very promising start. We had made it to the interview rounds at Y Combinator. Then, life took a dramatic turn; I was probably overestimating my work capacity, pushing beyond my aerobic work limits, and could not sustain myself. This time, when we are building Tangible Careers this is our top priority. We are pacing ourselves, building the right team, working with the right partners, and staying within our aerobic limit. We know that when the time is right, and we are ready, we will scale. We want to build a company that does Social Good through Talent Development, and we are getting better with every conversation we have with our customers and our team.
