We’re so grateful for the generosity of all who support Awake’s mission! This month we're especially thankful for all who supported our second annual survivor retreat and gave to our fifth anniversary campaign. We also extend our gratitude to 27 donors who wish to remain anonymous.

#EngagedLibraries spread happiness. 👗👔 Lasting memories are made for teens at events like prom. But for some, not having anything to wear stops them from attending. Sacramento Public Library in California breaks those barriers by inviting donations of gently used suits, dresses, and formal accessories to its annual Prom Drive. During giveaway events each spring, teens browse the free collection and take home the perfect outfit. Instead of collecting dust in someone’s closet, donations have the potential to bring light to others. 📲 We want to know how your library connects for a cause. Share your story on social media and include #EngagedLibraries in your post. You could be featured in an upcoming issue of Abstracts, on our community engagement hub, in an upcoming blog or video, or across our social media channels. ⤵️ Click below to learn more about Sacramento’s Prom Drive. --- #OCLC #PublicLibrary #PublicLibraries #Library #Libraries #Librarian #Librarians #LibraryLife #LibraryLove

To be successful in philanthropy, we need to be thinking about our donors as partners towards a common goal. Those who support our organizations do so because they believe in the mission and wish to see the organization be successful. They want to be partners with us as those successes are realized and they want to know the impact their support has provided. For donors to feel like our partners, there must be a level of mutual respect that starts in our philanthropy offices with culture, specifically centered on gratitude. Culture is defined by our leaders and shaped by our common language, behaviors and attitudes. Think about the language your team uses when you talk about philanthropy. Is it rooted in gratitude? Thank you to everyone who donated to our Giving Tuesday campaign yesterday! Connecting with other people that share similar passions, hobbies, professions or even problems can be incredibly empowering and motivating, and is always useful. If you want your community to become a powerful agent of change around a particular cause, or you want to connect important decision makers from different businesses or industries, getting together at community events could be the first step. Our role at the OMI Cultural Participation Project is to provide a space for healthy debate, knowledge sharing, new ideas and judgement-free self-expression. If we can do this from your donations, then our community will quickly attract other like-minded individuals or thinkers. If you want a community to grow organically, organize events that bring people together. We create a culture and atmosphere where individuals feel part of something bigger than themselves, because feeling included or invited can be extremely powerful. If our community members feel valued, they’ll naturally invite others to join, too. We are restoring, empowering, and serving in our neighborhood: this is your San Francisco District 11.

Generosity is generosity. Here are a few tips as you wrap up calendar year-end gift receiving: ➡️ Treat all donors like their gift matters. ➡️ Help donors feel like they make a difference – less like an ATM, and more like a meaningful difference. ➡️ Thank, thank, thank, and thank those donors for their generosity, and show them the impact that their gift is making. I never get tired of the generosity of donors. What generosity have you witnessed? Share in the comments⤵️ → P.S. As you wrap up the year for fundraising, also help your team reminisce about the past year. For more on the year-end: https://lnkd.in/edAUx3iU #Generosity #Philanthropy #PhilanthropyOps
