The return to the F1 season after summer break is highly anticipated. There is so much up in the air, and the second half of the season will reveal all the drama. The calendar is intense, packed with double and triple-header weekends and a travel schedule across four continents. We start with a double header and the last two European races: the Dutch Grand Prix and ending the doubleheader at the Italian Grand Prix. Then we head east to Asia, to the streets of Baku. The second Asian race for the doubleheader is Singapore. Notoriously hot, it's a night race and one of the most challenging physical races all season. A short break as we head to the Americas at Circuit of the Americas in Austin for the start of the triple header. Next is a quick flight south to Mexico City for the Mexican Grand Prix and the historic Brazilian Grand Prix in Sao Paolo. A Quick stop in Vegas for the Las Vegas Grand Prix, and then we take the final hop to the Middle East for one of the most grueling travel jumps all season. The season winds down with Qatar and the season finale in Abu Dhabi. Are Bearman and Colapinto in F1 comparable to Sesks and Pajari in WRC? Since the Azerbaijan GP, I've been reflecting on how these rising talents stack up, despite competing in different championships. 🇬🇧 Ollie Bearman – Ollie made his F1 debut in Jeddah, standing in for Carlos Sainz at Scuderia Ferrari. He delivered an impressive performance, showcasing his pace and skill. His second appearance in Azerbaijan, filling in for Haas’ Kevin Magnussen, also saw him score points. Bearman is set for a full season with Haas in 2025. 🇦🇷 Franco Colapinto – Franco debuted in F1 at Monza, replacing Logan Sargeant at Williams Racing, and became the first Argentine driver in F1 since 2001. He scored points in his second race, cementing his status as a rising star. With a seat still available at Sauber for 2025, could Colapinto secure a full-time F1 spot? 🇱🇻 Mārtiņš Sesks – The 2023 European Rally Championship vice-champion made an immediate impact in his WRC debut, finishing 5th in Poland and narrowly missing a stage win. He continued to impress in his home rally in Latvia with two stage wins before technical issues interrupted his podium run. Sesks returns to Rally1 action this week in Chile. 🇫🇮Sami Pajari – Pajari has had a strong WRC2 season, claiming three victories. His Rally1 debut in Finland saw him overcome early challenges to secure a stage win and finish 4th. Like Sesks, Pajari is competing in Rally Chile this week and has a confirmed Rally1 appearance in the Central European Rally next month. These young talents are proving themselves capable of competing at the highest level. Should F1 and WRC teams do more to offer emerging drivers greater opportunities? Who do you think deserves a chance to showcase their talent? #Formula1 #F1 #WRC #Rally #Racing

Alpine F1 Team goes to Budapest for Round 13 of the 2024 FIA F1 World Championship at Hungaroring, Hungary . Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly preview Budapest, a happy hunting ground for Esteban after his first win in Formula 1 in 2021. Esteban Ocon: The Hungarian Grand Prix will always be a special race for me as it’s where I had my first win, which was also the team’s first win as Alpine F1 Team. It is one of my favourite circuits on the calendar and one I always love to race. It is a great track to drive with high downforce and lots of consecutive, flowing corners. Overtaking can be tricky with the only real opportunities in the first sector, so it puts more emphasis on maximising Qualifying performance. The weather is forecast to be hot, so strategy will also come into play to help with tyre management. I am looking forward to the atmosphere in Budapest, the city truly embraces F1 when we come to visit, and the fans always bring the best energy. Esteban Stats – Hungarian Grand Prix Starts in Hungary: 6 Points in Hungary: 29 Average Points: 4.7 Best Grid Position: 5th (2022) Best Finish: 1st (2021) Best Qualifying Lap Time: 1min 15.742secs (2020) Fastest Lap: 1min 20.261secs (2020) Pierre Gasly: The Hungaroring is a full-on track but it’s one of the most enjoyable to drive on the calendar. The circuit is like go-karting because its corner after corner and you don’t have too much time to rest on the straights. It’s busy for the whole lap and you need to find a rhythm, so that’s the challenge, which I love. It looks like conditions will be extremely hot too so the full race distance will be a really tough one for all the drivers from a physical point of view. After a hard Silverstone, we want to return to Q3 and strive for points this weekend and put ourselves in a better position before the summer break. Pierre Stats – Hungarian Grand Prix Starts in Hungary: 6 Points in Hungary: 26 Average Points: 4.3 Best Grid Position: 5th (2021) Best Finish: 5th (2021) Best Qualifying Lap Time: 1min 15.450secs (2019) Fastest Lap: 1min 18.394secs (2021) #alpine #alpinef1team #hungarygp #hungaroring #f1 #winners #bwt #pirelli #raceweek #formula1

BWT Alpine F1 Team heads to the Marina Bay Street Circuit for Round 18 of the 2024 FIA F1 World Championship, the #singaporegp - Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly preview the Singapore Grand Prix - Alpine Academy’s Abbi Pulling returns for Round 5 of F1 Academy. Esteban Ocon - Knock-on effect. The weekend in Azerbaijan was a tough one for the team. The issues we had in two of the three Free Practice sessions limited the preparation we were able to do ahead of Qualifying. Ultimately this then had a knock-on effect to the race which proved to be a tricky feat. With the back-to-back, the turnaround will be quick but we have debriefed after the weekend and shifted our focus ahead to Singapore. We are in this together as a team and we will regroup this coming weekend with the goal to maximise the available track time to fight in the points on Sunday. Pierre Gasly - Putting Baku behind us. The race weekend in Baku was a hard one for us. We took a gamble by running long on the opening stint, hoping for some action, which came a bit too late to make any difference to the end result for us. I was on the limit for the entire race and from that side, I think we did a good job. Overall, there are many things for us to reflect on. We had difficulties across all three days, and we must improve for next time. We lost some ground to our rivals in the Constructors’ Championship - we need to work extremely hard in these next few races to fight for points and recover that position. #Alpine #alpinecars #alpineracing #alpinef1team #f1 #formula1 #raceweek #singapore #marinabay #marinabaycircuit #FIA #quali #goodluck #raceday #qualifying #raceweek #raceweekend

European Masters Indoor Championships. - Toruń, Poland 🇵🇱 3 races in one week with 3 huge PBs 3000m Final- 5th with a 12” PB (10:44) 1500m Final - 4th with a 7” PB (5:06) 800m Final - 7th with a 7” PB (2:31) The most amazing experience for my first ever Indoor European championships. The atmosphere in the stadium was unreal, the facilities were world class and to come away with three PBs was pretty epic. Every race had such a different story. I had to front run the 3000m for 11 laps in order to hit my PB and to make the race honest. The 800m was inbetween the 3000m and 1500m which my coach wanted me to do to get some speed in the legs for the 1500m - 800m is not my normal distance so it was hard and the lactic was so intense in the final 200m. No idea how I raced the 1500m after only 1 day of rest but just gave it my all, left absolutely nothing out there and ran to my maximum. I didn’t expect to finish that high up the field as the quality of athletes is fantastic, it really was great to be around such talent. These performances put me top of the UK AG rankings for 1500m and 2nd for 3000m and 800m 🇬🇧 What a way to close the indoor season. As always, powered by plants 🌱 #athletics #veganbusiness

[Data viz] 👇👇 🇫🇷 The elite French indoor championships took place this weekend! 📈 An opportunity to take a look back at the data from the event, in particular the 3,000 metres won by Romain Mornet. 👑 #Championship races are often "waiting races", whether at the #Olympics or the French championships. Athletes want the medal, not the record (see my article on the subject in the first commentary). ✅ Here we see the classic pattern of a middle-distance race 1️⃣ First of all a #fast start to position yourself correctly 2️⃣ Then a slowing down with 100m run at more than 3'00 per kilometre (which is quite #slow) 3️⃣ Finally a gradual acceleration to compete for victory in the #sprint. ⚡️ If you look at the data, you'll also notice that Nicolas-Marie DARU attacked at 2500 metres before taking 3rd place! He was overtaken after a thundering final 100m by Simon Bédard (13'63). He made up for it the next day by winning the semi-final of the French #crosscountry championships 🤯 This event is fantastic news for me. With Enduraw, we were stuck on the track because we didn't have enough #quality data (as you know, clean data is the key to success). 🚀 Now, with Matsport and the help of Vincent Guyot, we have access to extremely #precise data on the #speed and #position of the athletes. A new era in pacing advice for coaches and athletes #enduraw #championship #trackandfield #behindthescene #timer #performance #pack #peloton big thanks to Aymeric Roucher 🙌

The Power of Resilience: Lessons from Femke Bol Femke Bol’s journey from the 2023 World Championships to the 2024 Paris Olympics is a powerful testament to the strength of resilience and determination. At the 2023 Championships, Bol fell just before the finish line in the mixed 4x400m relay, and her team missed out on a medal. A devastating setback. But she didn't let it define her. - Turning Setbacks into Motivation: Bol didn’t let disappointment break her spirit - instead, she channelled it into her training and preparation for the next challenge. - The Comeback: Fast forward to the 2024 Paris Olympics. In a stunning performance, Bol anchored the Dutch team and bolted them into gold medal position in the mixed 4x400m relay, overcoming incredible pressure and fierce competition. This is resilience in action. Bol's victory is a testament to her physical abilities, but also to her mental strength. When we see a performance like this we should be reminded that setbacks are a part of life and it's how we respond to them that both creates and defines success. Resilience, determination, and the refusal to give up are key to overcoming life’s obstacles. Let athletes like Bol inspire you to keep pushing forward, no matter the setbacks. #Resilience #NeverGiveUp #OlympicSpirit
