Local startups are developing innovative digital health and health-tech solutions that can enhance the quality of care for expecting mothers and their babies. By integrating these solutions into healthcare systems, we can ensure that the increased demand for antenatal services translates into meaningful health outcomes, delivering real value to mothers and their babies.

At Thirty Madison, we know that #TelehealthBreaksBarriers, especially in women’s health. More than 40% of Nurx patients live in the South, and rely on us for the care they need across the spectrum of comprehensive health care needs, from reproductive health to mental health. I’m grateful and proud to have contributed to a new issue brief from RHITES (Reproductive Health Initiative for Telehealth Equity & Solutions) and Manatt Health on behalf of Nurx. Together, we identified five key takeaways to expand access to telehealth for medication abortion (TMAB) care in a constrained policy environment. The research findings focus on: * Improving the public understanding of the safety and effectiveness of TMAB care * Addressing regulatory barriers to telehealth, including TMAB care; * Improving the overall economics and coverage of TMAB care; * Expanding training on TMAB care to expand the availability of providers, and therefore, patient access; * Establishing referral channels and education around TMAB services. This was another opportunity to collaborate with incredible leaders from companies also focused on women’s health, including our partner Hey Jane.

Systemic racism creates barriers for people of color in healthcare, affecting both access and patient experiences. Historical exploitation and educational obstacles continue to influence healthcare interactions. Ways to improve this? Increasing diversity among healthcare providers and ultimately improve patient outcomes. Online directories for patients to find culturally sensitive providers. Systemic changes, including pipeline programs and cultural competency training, are necessary to increase the number of providers of color in women's healthcare.
