VP Public Safety | 911inform, NG911 SME - Federal MLTS Expert on Kari's Law | RAY BAUM'S Act | Alyssa's Law. NENA Northeast Regional Director
🚨✨ Reflecting on an incredible journey at the #911GoesToWashington event as the rookie NENA Northeast Regional Director, I am beyond proud of the meaningful conversations the entire board was able to have with with legislators and their dedicated staff. 🏛️📢 The team had a CLEAR mission - to amplify the critical issues facing the brave public safety community and ensure our collective voices; which were heard loud and clear across the capitol region.. Kudos to Jonathon's sessions on behalf of NENA, which provided invaluable fresh content that was jam-packed with insights and strategies to address our common challenges. One of the highlights? Engaging directly with policymakers to advocate for the SAVES Act and the vital classification of telecommunicators. It's about recognizing the unsung heroes of public safety who are the first, first responders. 📞💪 We left no stone unturned, providing fresh and informative leave-behind materials to ensure our message resonates long after our meetings. It's more than just a visit; it's about forging lasting impressions and partnerships for a safer future. 📚🤝 Thank you to everyone who participated and supported this crucial cause. Together, we're not just raising awareness; we're sparking change. Here's to continuing our advocacy and ensuring the public safety message is not only told but remembered. 🔥👏 #PublicSafety #SAVESAct #TelecommunicatorClassification #AdvocacyInAction

Juneteenth is a family-friendly community event commemorating the freeing of the last enslaved African Americans on June 19, 1865. Although the Emancipation Proclamation was signed January 1, 1863, enslavement had continued in Texas as the state had no significant presence of Union troops to enforce the new law of the land. That finally ended on June 19, 1865, when Major General George Granger landed in Galveston, Texas, and issued an order ensuring the 250,000 remaining enslaved African Americans would be freed. Thereafter, June 19 - or "Juneteenth" as it came to be called - became the special Independence Day celebrated by African Americans, especially those in the Southwest. Originally centered in family gatherings with special food, storytelling, sports, and games, Juneteenth festivities have evolved into more elaborate community festivals featuring parades, exhibits, and music celebrating African American heritage and emancipation. On June 17, 2021, Juneteenth was designated a federal holiday. Check out these Juneteenth celebrations happening around Wisconsin in this Spectrum News 1 Wisconsin article

I am so proud of this organization and the event they held recently. This is the type of newsworthy things that happen in Bayview that are not covered on Main Street media. Recently the news has covered AA in a negative way. This is definitely a win. Keep up the good work. #bayview#fathers#daughters#family#chamgethenarrative#communitywin#native#proudmoment#
Bayview at its best is when over 250 Black families fill the Ruth Williams Bayview Opera House with fathers and daughters celebrating life! This past weekend was a beautiful celebration of community and fatherhood. "Dads came through in fresh haircuts, velvet blazers and Hawaiian prints and daughters glided in princess gowns alongside proud family and community members during an afternoon and evening of joyful moments." Thank you to Paul B. of Bay Area Zap Zone for organizing and always pulling the community together. Thank you also to the wonderful community partners and awardees from the event. https://lnkd.in/g7SF_8eK

Today marks the anniversary of the founding of the Black Panther Party, a movement that is often misunderstood. While many associate the Panthers with radicalism, their core mission was rooted in hope, community empowerment, and self-determination. They stood against injustice, but they also built programs that directly uplifted their communities. Free Breakfast for Children Program Community Schools Health Clinics Political Education These initiatives addressed systemic inequalities and empowered Black communities, ensuring that essential needs were met. Their legacy lives on today in how we think about community care, self-reliance, and the power of grassroots organizing. The Black Panther Party gave us bold ideas about what’s possible when we come together to serve and support one another. Let’s not forget their profound impact, especially as these kinds of efforts can sometimes be overlooked in modern narratives. The power of the Black Panther Party is a reminder that hope and empowerment are just as revolutionary as any political stance.
