James L., Partner and Co-Head of Private Equity reflects on 40 years of Foresight. In conversation with Michael Taylor, James reflects on Foresight’s remarkable growth and diversification over the past forty years. While our roots are in venture capital, we have expanded significantly into renewable energy and regional private equity funds in recent years. This shift has been driven by a belief that we can play a vital role in supporting businesses and economic development outside of the traditional London-Oxford-Cambridge triangle. Our regional expansion has been a game-changer, with 12 offices now across the UK and Ireland, and new offices opening in Bristol and Exeter following the launch of our South West Fund, it’s a great network across the small business community. The Australian M&A market has been active with substantial deals, influenced by a strategic drive from corporations to navigate market uncertainties. In 2023 alone, the M&A activities involved inbound deal values surpassing A$105 billion across 1,500 transactions. The Australian private equity sector has shown robust growth, characterised by strategic acquisitions and significant investment flows. The private equity market is expected to maintain dynamic growth with firms holding record levels of dry powder, estimated globally at A$3.73 trillion at the end of 2023, indicating a strong investor confidence. Australia's strategic focus on clean energy has seen significant investments. For instance, under the Powering the Regions Fund, various industries like mining and manufacturing have received substantial funding for decarbonisation projects aimed at reducing emissions and enhancing sustainability. These initiatives are expected to result in significant reductions in emissions, with one program alone aiming to cut down 830,000 tonnes annually. #ethicacapital #greenfinance #greenbonds #sustainablity #climatechange #blueinfrastructure #climatefinance #sustainablefinance #structuredfinance #sustainabilitybonds #sustainabledevelopment #sustainableenergy #sdg #sdgs2030 #sustainabledevelopmentgoals #unitednations #decarbonisation #netzerocarbon #cleanenergyfuture #infrastructurefinance #carbonneutral #esg #infrastructure #esginvesting #bonds #BeTheChange

I’m excited to officially announce our company, Camion, and our pre-seed investment from EQT Ventures! We’re using this funding to build out our great engineering and data science teams to help charge point operators and developers identify the most profitable sites for #electricvehicles using machine learning. Camion assess factors like charging demand, utilisation, traffic flow, power access, and landowner engagement to identify the most promising #EV sites based on a charge point operators needs —whether it’s a busy retail park, a new logistics hub, or an undeveloped land near a major highway. Our analytics empowers charge point operators with reliable, third-party confidence and helps ensure alignment with the long-term objectives of both charging partners and property owners. We recently launched the beta version of Camion Explore, and we’re eager to connect with charge point operators and developers. If you’re interested in transforming how and where charging infrastructure is deployed, we’d love for you to join our beta program: https://www.camion.energy/. GROWTH CAPITAL FORUM 2025 - Australia's annual live event for investors in the growth capital space, and growth companies seeking private investment. Friday, the 28th of February 2028 at the Ivy Ballroom in Sydney I will be speaking alongside some of Australia's largest private equity firms on how niche players gain national impact through private investment within the infrastructure, water and energy markets. The path to decarbonisation is one which needs investment and collaboration and is gaining significant momentum in preparation for the future. There have been many recent examples of strategic acquisitions into engineering and advisory services firms by private equity wanting to gain entry and exposure to supporting the energy transition. SPINFRA brings together the capability and capital to the need by identifying and facilitating transactions for service providers and asset owners looking to grow and works closely with Private Equity Firms and Founders to make this happen. Please come along and grab your tickets now at https://lnkd.in/gamCNqpf to learn all about what is happening in the Private Equity space and how we can all help you.
