"Men are strong and silent", Boys don't cry." How many times have we heard these phrases? The fact is, men are just as susceptible to mental health struggles as anyone else. Depression, anxiety, and even eating disorders can affect men of all ages and backgrounds. Society often views men as inherently strong, able to handle anything life throws at them. But let's be real—men experience emotions and struggles just like everyone else. During #MenMentalHealthWeek, let's break down these barriers and have honest conversations about our feelings. 👉 Talk it out: Sharing your feelings is an act of bravery. It shows real strength to admit when you're not okay. 👉Stay connected: Lean on your friends, family, or anyone you trust. Sometimes, a simple chat can be a lifeline. 👉Seek professional help: Therapy and counseling are vital tools for mental health. Showing strength isn't about bottling things up. It's about opening up, connecting with others, and seeking help when you need it. This week, let's encourage the men in our lives to prioritize their mental well-being. Let's create a space where they feel comfortable sharing their struggles and knowing they're not alone.

🌟 Debunking the Anxiety Myth: Chronic vs. Acute 🤔💬 Ever wondered if anxiety is a forever thing or just a passing storm? Let's break it down: 🔄 Chronic vs. Acute: Chronic Anxiety: It's a long-term condition that may persist for years. Managing symptoms and seeking professional support are key to a balanced life. Acute Anxiety: This is more short-lived, often triggered by specific situations. It can be intense but tends to subside once the stressor is removed or managed. 🌈 The Truth: Anxiety is unique to each person. Some may experience isolated episodes, while others manage an ongoing journey. Seeking help early on can make a significant difference, regardless of the duration. 🤝 Remember: There's no one-size-fits-all answer. Mental health is a spectrum, and support is available for every step. Let's keep the conversation going! Alcohol and mental health are intricately connected, weaving a complex tapestry of challenges and coping mechanisms. Drinking excessively can deeply impact your well-being, and for some, it becomes a way to cope with the symptoms of mental ill-health. Whether it is to celebrate, socialise, or numb the pain, alcohol often becomes our temporary solace. Ever had one of those unexpected moments? I sure did! Rushing through my house, I took a nasty fall in the hallway (the one you can see it the background). Instinct kicked in, and I screamed for help. Luckily, my son and house help were there to lift me up. It got me thinking, though. When it comes to physical pain, we're quick to ask for help. But why do we struggle in silence when it's our mental health at stake? And when we experience a fall in life, it's just as important to reach out for support and guidance. Let's change that. Asking for help isn't a sign of weakness—it's a brave step towards healing. So, next time you're feeling down, don't hesitate to reach out. Together, we can break the silence and support each other through the ups and downs of life. #AskForHelp #BreakTheStigma #YoureNotAlone #MonikaTandon #CorporateCoach #BusinessStoryteller #communicationexpert #mentalhealth

June is Men's Mental Health Month. Your mental health is just as important as your physical health, and it's heartbreaking that suicide is the leading cause of death for men under 50. Remember these things, not just this month but every month: Don’t tell a man to “MAN UP.” It’s crucial to talk about feelings and emotions. Telling someone to “MAN UP” is like telling them to shut up, but talking can help them not feel alone. Check on your friends. Maybe drop your quiet friend a message or invite them for a drink after work. A simple check-in can have a more positive impact than you might think. Be kind, not just to men but to everyone. We are all facing silent battles and challenges that we may not talk about. Just be kind—you never know what someone is going through. If you’re struggling or feel alone, remember that you are loved, and there are resources available to help you. Please reach out—your situation is temporary. #MentalHealthAwareness #MensMentalHealthAwareness

Understanding Depression and the Power of Anticipation. #Depression is a serious mental health condition that affects around 280 million people worldwide. It symptoms can severely impact one's quality of life, making even simple daily tasks seem insurmountable. During a workshop on #Depression with students from Devon Recovery Learning Community, we discussed the importance of anticipation - having scheduled activities in our days create a sense of stability and predictability, routine and purpose, significantly enhancing our mental well-being. Engaging in meaningful activities gives us something to work towards. It provides a reason to get out of bed and face the day. Even small, regular activities can make a significant difference in managing depression and enhancing our quality of life. Dedicate time each day to activities you love - learn something new, schedule walks, plan regular meet-ups with friends or family. Take small steps each day to fill your calendar with meaningful activities. Your #mentalhealthmatters.
