👀 Are your product walkthroughs a clear path or a confusing maze? If your demos feel like an escape room, it’s time to rethink the approach. No offence to escape rooms. (We ❤️ escape rooms... and we're pretty good at them as a team.) Instead of listing features, show real value by connecting each feature to an actual benefit teachers will appreciate. Swipe through the carousel to learn how to make your walkthroughs engaging, clear, and impactful. 👆 📲 #edtech #marketingtoschools #marketingtips #productwalkthroughs #demos

After analyzing 535,763 demo sessions across 50 companies, here’s what we found: ▶ Gated demos convert 43% of engaged users into leads ▶ Partially gated demos experience a steep drop-off, with a conversion rate of just 4.99% ▶ Ungated demos have the lowest conversion rate at 0.30%, as the form comes after the demo If you're weighing the pros and cons of gating your demos, check out our latest report on the Plot - a weekly column where we share data-driven insights and GTM best practices. When do single-flow demos make sense? After analyzing 8,800 sessions across 40 demo flows, we found: If you can showcase your product in 12 steps or fewer, a single-flow demo is your best bet. Why? 👉 Single-flow demos with 12 or fewer steps achieve a 34.66% completion rate 👉 Single-flow demos with over 12 steps see only a 14.62% completion rate Our data shows a clear negative correlation between step count and completion rate. Keeping your demo focused and under 12 steps more than doubles your chances of viewers finishing it. When do multi-flow demos make sense? After analyzing 8,800 sessions across 40 demo flows, we found: If your product showcase requires more than 12 steps due to its complexity, multi-flow demos are your best bet. Why? 👉 The first flow of a multi-flow demo achieves a 47.79% completion rate, more than double that of single-flow demos (22.63%) 👉 The second flow of a multi-flow demo maintains a 27.34% completion rate, outperforming single-flow demos by 1.2x 👉 Multi-flow demos with 3 flows (totaling 32 steps) still see higher completion rates than single-flow demos with fewer steps Breaking down demos into smaller, manageable flows keeps users more engaged—even with more steps! Recording: Seven VALIDATED Habits for Stunningly Successful Demos We explored seven validated demo success factors that lead to closed business. These approaches map delightfully to Great Demo! and Doing Discovery principles while differing markedly from traditional demos. Thousands millions of demos were analyzed to uncover these seven success factors: 1. Pre-Demo Discovery 2. A Crisp Review of the Prospect’s Situation 3. Do the Last Thing First 4. Inverted Pyramid 5. Peel Back the Layers 6. Peel Back the Layers (reprised) 7. Transition Vision We examined each of these, plus some bonus ideas. How do your demos compare? You can find the recording here (you may need to register for Demofest or confirm (“Create”) your Demofest profile to access it, if you’ve not done so already!). The actual session starts about 80 seconds in and my presentation begins at the four minute mark. Enjoy! Presentation Link: https://lnkd.in/g-kP7N9E Event Registration: https://lnkd.in/ghCrtMtc

Here are 5 demo mistakes I’ve made (so you don’t have to). After running 1,000+ of demos, I’ve learned what not to do. These five mistakes can make or break your pitch: 1. Jumping straight to features without asking what they care about. 2. Turning the demo into a monologue. Nobody likes being talked at for 20 minutes. 3. Focusing on what’s cool instead of what solves their problem. 4. Overloading them with details. Less is more. 5. Skipping the follow-up. Just because they don’t respond doesn’t mean they’re not interested. Avoid these, and your demos will instantly feel more engaging—and way more effective. What’s one mistake you’ve seen (or made) in a demo? Let’s chat in the comments! 👇
