Today I was inspired by my friend to make a reflection about my work. I’m getting close to celebrating my 1 YEAR of internship at NOV Flexibles and thinking about these last months, I notice remarkably how much I have developed professionally, and I know that this journey has no end. We are all constantly evolving. I had already worked before, and this is not my first professional experience, although I must admit that in these 25 years, this has been the most enriching experience so far, and that’s what I would like to bring up some points about today. As an FP&A intern, what makes this experience so enriching, unlike any other professional experience I've ever had? 1- Being part of a company with the NOV culture is certainly a turning point in a professional’s life. All the networking, the multicultural environment and possibilities opened for us are life-changing. 2- Everyone around me encourages me to develop my self-confidence and professional autonomy within the company by assigning me projects and responsibilities. Also, HR cares about us both as a person (with family and special needs) and as a professional. 3- I have the privilege of receiving feedback/advice and guidance from my manager who, despite being very busy, is dedicated to developing me along with the team and succeeding in the next one. 4- Notions of teamwork are continually reinforced at NOV, and I have the privilege of having an incredible team by my side, where everyone helps each other. But this is not just a reality in my sector. Everyone has the view that we are part of a big machine. Also, we’re always being prepared with seminars about health, safety, and work improvement. 5- I have efficient supervision who is attentive to my qualities and manages my strengths in projects. I feel blessed to be among such competent professionals, hard work and successful people whom I aspired to follow their steps and grow.

Dear connections, It has been almost two months now and I’m about to complete my summer internship program at Kedling Freight LLP. The most important and exciting part of my job was to approach clients and maintain relationships with them. I got an opportunity to connect with so many foreign clients for the first time ever in my life. The ultimate goal of a sales & marketing employee is to bring successful business deals to the table. Meanwhile, there can be plenty reasons for a fall of possible business deal but one should always aim to give the best service to each client. Qualities that will help you maintain customer relations: • honesty • empathy • integrity • politeness • understanding • patience These life principles are equally important for your all round development. 📚 Lying or trying to trick your client may result in a few successful deals but it will affect your long term business. I personally believe that you invest in a person (client) first and then in his/her company. Sometimes you have to think outside the box… 📦 In my first year of #university I had a number of health problems and I was due to miss a lecture in October with the then #MarketingExecutive at #Superdry due to a hospital appointment. However, in the pre-lecture notes 📝 they had provided their email address in case any students wanted to ask questions. I decided to shoot my shot instead… • I preemptively emailed them stating I was due to miss the lecture, and that I was sorry I was going to miss it but explained the circumstances. • I asked questions about her and her role at Superdry. • I then asked if there were ever any #internships, unpaid or otherwise then I would be greatly interested. That email thread landed me a #summerinternship at Superdry HQ the following May where I worked during my summer break. I learned far more on the job experience here than in any classroom and that knowledge has stayed with me all these years. When I asked, why did they hire me, she told me it was because I stood out and no one had done this previously. My point…if you want to stand out from the masses, you have to get comfortable with putting yourself out there! Making an appreciation post for my favorite duo at Bestwork Industries for the Blind, Inc. Despite my internship wrapping up, Lauren Scarpa and Krysti Plester (Peitz) invited me out to a yummy lunch yesterday. It was a great way to re-connect! More than just lunch — they offered valuable advice that I’ll hold close to my heart as I start work next week. Here are the takeaways: Ask questions the right way — Questions are great, but you have to do it tastefully. Jot down questions, dedicate a specific time and place to ask questions, and make sure to take notes (to avoid re-asking a question later). Offer solutions, not just complaints — No workplace is 100% perfect. We’re taught to be “tough” and deal with it. But, why not offer a solution? Or, at least show that you’ve been thinking/brainstorming on the topic. This way, you’ll be seen as a problem-solver and not just a sore complainer. Show interest — Obvious but often neglected. Show interest in the work, the company, and the people. Learn/familiarize yourself on how to do stuff, even tasks that aren’t directly related to your role. You’ll use this skill set to tackle and overcome many obstacles in the future. Thank you to Lauren and Krysti for the great advice. Recently I interned at a place and I left it in 6 days only, Reasons: 1)Bad work culture 2)They asked me for marketing via linkedin chat (the founder approached me) but were making me do sales instead. 3)I left the place but they told their employees that they kicked me out (lies) They didnt even paid me my full compensation for 6days and made up things like our company policy is this and that , we can’t pay full amount They didnt reimbursed me for other expenses that they told me to buy before starting internship. They talked poorly about their customers( behind their back ofc) , I mean “customers ko bhagwan saman mana jataa hai” should be applied I mean is this what working at a place should feel like? Ps- I took whatever less amount they paid me and didnt fight because it’s peace > money and it’s always best to leave such toxic people behind. I m happy I left the company soon and didn’t sign any contract. Working at a place should feel fullfilling and makes you happy and you should work for people that are respectful both to you and their customers and employees and professional. Recently, I've been inundated with messages about my internship at Sleepy Owl Private Ltd. So, here I am sharing my experiences and insights from navigating the corporate world. As a business development intern, my focus was on B2B online sales, with particular emphasis on corporate gifting. Stepping into this role during the festive season last year thrust me into a whirlwind of activity. My responsibilities ranged from engaging with past and potential leads to negotiating deals, and fostering strong company relationships. I received comprehensive training and briefings on company operations, sales strategies, (lots of coffee obviously 🤗)and even had the opportunity for a factory visit, which added the needed cherry on the cake. Undoubtedly, it was a holistic learning experience. It honed my communication and negotiation skills, offering ample opportunities to engage in lengthy client calls, address queries, track progress, and interact with diverse stakeholders on a daily basis. In the realm of sales, every potential deal is an open opportunity until it's a definitive no. Each negotiation demanded meticulous attention to detail, and effective coordination across various departments was crucial for seamless delivery. The office culture, routines, and working environment quickly became familiar territory, teaching me valuable lessons in commitment and discipline. The Corporate Academy, our revamped internship program, is a few weeks away from the end of the fall program and has welcomed seven interns from across the country to our Indianapolis office. This exclusively internal program invites employees from our Retail, Distribution Center and Customer Care teams to our headquarters and join the ranks of our other development efforts, along with focusing on equipping our JD Finish Line family members with tools they can use to grow anywhere within our organization. How has the internship been so far? The internship has been going well. I have been able to participate in various tasks, and sit in on meetings within my department. This has helped me understand different aspects of the business and the retail industry. The Aspire program is another tool that has been aiding me in my career development. The tools that I am learning from Aspire I look forward to bringing them back to my team. What has been the biggest takeaway from the internship for you? During my internship, I have gained several key takeaways that have significantly impacted my professional growth. The first is the connections you make during your internship could be the foundations of your professional network later in your career, it also helps to put a face with the name. As an intern with no professional experience in Planning & Allocation, I have made mistakes. One major thing I learned is that when I make a mistake or am unsure about something, I need to own up to it and ask questions to improve. The most important thing that I learned during my internship is to always pay attention to detail. This is not only an important thing to do in Planning & Allocation but in everything you do. Paying attention to detail helps minimize any simple mistakes. It’s a very simple thing that doesn’t require any skills just to focus and pay attention. First 3yrs of my #internship I made $8/hr. Then, the COO’s nephew was hired as an intern earning $10/hr… I’d previously never asked for a raise, nor additional compensation - now my 4th summer at the firm (and I’d planned to work PT during the school year)- I began to feel undervalued, not understanding why my summers of loyalty and experience weren’t enough for me to be paid equitably. I spoke to my manager explaining my reasoning and she advocated for me. She requested an increase to corporate. Initially they didn’t agree. I had never worked in corporate before. The whole experience was eye-opening…I naively thought people will always “do the right thing” This was a good learning experience for me-tips I’d recommend to others: - Advocate for yourself: learning to ask for what you want can be uncomfortable but necessary - FIND your voice & share your perspective and reasoning - build relationships and mentorship’s with those who can provide guidance, support, insight, they may also advocate for you too in the future -Benchmarking with data can be beneficial and important to influence -Persevere - continue to show up for yourself and know your worth - Reflect - if you’re in a scenario where you don’t feel heard or invested in, consider gaining experience at another place (I had never considered this possibility prior and had tunnel vision previously) Side note: By mid way thru summer corparte finally agreed to provide a raise. They offered me a full time role after graduation, however I reflected, explored other opportunities, leveraged the knowledge and skills I’d honed & accepted a new opportunity I appreciate the relationships I formed with unforgettable folks, & also the lessons I learned that opened my eyes & strengthened my vocal chords Sidebar: Matthew Waligora - so glad I referred you there!!
