DLE Pilot Plant Produces High Quality Eluate Steve Kesler, Executive Chairman, of CleanTech Lithium (AIM: CTL) Lithium PLC , said: "The analysis of the eluate shows the DLE performance has exceeded our expectations, concentrating the lithium grade of the feed brine by 3.6X while achieving high recovery rates and low impurities. The first full batch of 24m3 of concentrated eluate is scheduled to be shipped in the coming weeks. The pilot plant has met its design capacity capable of producing 1 tonne of LCE per month, positioning CleanTech Lithium to produce significant quantities of lithium product samples for potential strategic partners. We are edging closer to be one of the first DLE based companies in Chile to produce battery-grade lithium carbonate." The surge in clean energy technologies has spiked mineral demand, raising prices significantly. This affects sustainable battery production, where, according to IEA data, minerals constitute over half of costs. Mineral scarcity, environmental concerns in mining and recycling, geographical concentration, climate-related risks, and diminishing mineral quality intensify supply risks, and this is definitely a valid topic for discussion. McKinsey & Company have created a great chart to show the relationship between supply, demand and price reactions and the supply reactions, technology shifts and material substitutions. With the cost of battery being halved by battery manufacturing giants CATL and BYD, when will start to see this in other supply chain elements for other technologies? #cleanenergy #battery #energyinnovation #energytechnology #batterymanufacturer #netzero

COO/VP of Operations - Aligning people, processes, and projects toward profit generation in construction related industries
Ascend Elements - 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲! If you're not yet familiar with Ascend Elements, it's time to get acquainted. Ascend Elements is able to take all types of lithium-ion batteries (LIB) and transform the critical elements into new cathode materials that rival or exceed the performance of cathode materials made with virgin metals. Their proprietary method efficiently separates valuable materials such as cobalt sulfate, manganese sulfate, nickel sulfate, lithium carbonate, and graphite. These can either be sold as commodities or further processed into customer-specified cathodes, which are among the most costly and carbon-intensive components in lithium-ion batteries. Their process results in 50% lower costs and up to 90% lower carbon emissions. Additionally, a recent study revealed that battery cells constructed using the Ascent Elements upcycled cathode material demonstrated a cycle life over 50% longer than cells made using traditional methods and had an 88% increase in power capacity. This implies that fewer batteries would need to be manufactured if we repurposed current and previously used lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). The attached article may be a little older, but the company is right on track. https://lnkd.in/gywhTeWa

🚀 Major Milestone in Clean Energy! 🌍 International Battery Metals (IBAT) has made a significant breakthrough in clean energy by pioneering a new method to extract lithium for electric vehicle batteries using advanced filtration technology. This innovation will lead to cheaper and more efficient production of lithium, which is essential for the EV industry. At a site in Utah, IBAT has started producing commercial volumes of lithium at a rate of nearly 5,000 metric tons per year. Unlike traditional lithium extraction methods that heavily rely on evaporation ponds and open-pit mining, IBAT's direct lithium extraction (DLE) technology is both faster and more environmentally friendly. It's a game-changer for the global energy sector, expected to transform the lithium industry into a $10 billion market within a decade. This efficiency leap is akin to how fracking revolutionised US oil production. This marks a critical time for the industry. By innovating a portable plant system, IBAT can easily relocate and reuse its facilities, enhancing both cost-effectiveness and environmental sustainability. Each plant is capable of recycling more than 98% of the water it uses, which is crucial in areas with water scarcity. How do you see this breakthrough shaping the future of electric vehicles and sustainable energy?
