Since it’s recruiting week for the JE Dunn Purdue recruiting team, I thought I’d share a few tips to help students prepare for the career fair this semester and know what we are looking for in the process.
1- Who you are: We want to learn who you are in the short time we have, so highlight the key items that make you stand out or that will help us have more insight into who you are.
2- Can articulate what you are looking for: We like to see students who have an idea in where they want to go for the summer, what role they would like, what they want to learn, and why they believe our company will meet their goals.
3- Why JE Dunn? (Or any other company): Do your research on the company. Find out what they do, and what it is about the company that interests you. Have questions prepared for the recruiters.
4- Confidence: Be confident in yourself and what you bring to the table. Make sure the conversation flows and have a back and forth conversation rather than letting it be one-sided.
I always love going back to Purdue and getting to meet all the amazing students. Not only that, but helping students also prepare for the career fair whether they are looking into a summer internship with JE Dunn or any other company. It can be an intimidating process for the young students attending their first career fair, and I like to help out the students similarly to how I was helped by other industry professionals while I was a student in college.
