I'll be the first to admit that living without purpose is not ideal because your purpose informs why you do what you do and guides your steps along the way. But, what if you shifted your focus to enjoying each step along the way rather than being attached to getting to a particular place on the floor? I bet that would make living on purpose a lot less burdensome. Focussing on getting to a certain place on the floor is a sure way to remove the joy from dancing.

POSITIVE PSYCHOLOGY NEEDS MORE NEGATIVITY! Bringing out the best in others so we can all rise & shine. Dr of Coaching & Mentoring > MSc Applied Positive Psychology > Motorcycle Adventurer > Property Developer & Landlady
PPI 52: Dancing! My name is Verónica Cuevas Marte and I was born in the Dominican Republic. I've been living in Spain for 20 years. I'm a #psychologist, and I would love to become a #teacher. I would love to teach positive psychology and apply it to work systems. So what does living a good life mean to you? I think that living a good life is living connected to #love, the love that we are, and seeing that love in others, through our #relationships, through our #families, through our #communities. For me, the experience of being a #mother is one of the more life-changing experiences and it connects me a lot with that unconditional love. And I have learned from that love that I feel for my for my kids too that I'm that, and I also deserve that love. So I think that - and seeing that love in others and sharing that love, because we are love and our #mission here is to return to love. So what intentional activity would you say has had the greatest impact on your life? I come from the Dominican Republic. Over there, #dancing is just part of the #culture. We are a very musical culture and we dance everywhere at any time! Of the three main #Latin rhythms, two come from the #dominicanrepublic, #bachata and #merengue, so for me, that's part of my #heritage. My #African, my #Taino #Aboriginal heritage mixed with the #European. Our music is a fusion of all those ancestralities. So that #music, that dancing makes me feel connected and connected with others and it's magical just when you dance with #friends, when you dance with your #kids, when you dance with an old person who has this knowledge and holds the #tradition. For me, and all the #neuroscientific studies around dancing, how our hearts are connected when we dance - and this #synchronicity that's just amazing, it's a #miracle! I'm so happy that something like that has been part of my culture since I was a kid, and it's something that practice with intention. So I think you've touched on that being the intentional activity that can have the biggest difference in your community. So the dance. Yes, I think it helps to glue community. And back in the day, and also here in #Spain, at a #wedding, in a party, in the #celebration of a festivity, dance is present. I think it's part of most of our ancestrality because every culture has their own dancing and their style and how they get together to celebrate. #ppk2k #positivepsychology #RTW #motorcycle #mission https://lnkd.in/gDZiwCRs

Sharing a short but interesting story of, "The Dancing Penguin" Once in a chilly place called Antarctica, there lived a penguin named Peter. Peter loved to dance, but the other penguins often made fun of his moves. Still, Peter never gave up on his passion. One lucky day, a talent scout spotted Peter’s dancing and was amazed by his unique style. The scout invited Peter to participate in a big dance competition. Excited, Peter traveled to the competition and danced his heart out. His moves were a mix of waddles, slides, and wing flaps. At first, the audience didn’t know what to make of it, but soon they were cheering and smiling. Guess what ? Peter won the competition ! Everyone realized that his special style brought joy and happiness. Soon, penguins all over the world started imitating his dance moves and spreading joy wherever they went. The moral of the story :- 1. Embrace your uniqueness and follow your passion, even if others don’t understand it at first. 2. Your individuality can bring happiness and also inspire others to be themselves. #uniqueness #followyourpassion #happinessatwork #organizationalculture #inspirechange

Situational Intelligence Consultant I Travel Safety Consultant I Essential Security Risk Management Consultant I Keynote Speaker
Saturday Brag Post: The Power of a Strong Foundation Watching my daughter confidently take on the challenge of moving states, starting a new ballet school mid-year, being selected to sit the American Ballet Theater exam with only a few months of preparation, and then receiving a passing grade with honors has been truly inspiring. It made me realize that the strong foundation she has built through ballet—through discipline, focus, and practice—has equipped her with the skills to excel in other areas of life. This same principle applies in the workplace when it comes to security. 1. Discipline and Routine: Just as ballet requires regular practice and adherence to technique, maintaining a secure environment demands consistent application of best practices. A strong security foundation is built through daily routines and disciplined protocol adherence. 2. Adaptability: Dancers learn to adapt their movements to different styles and routines, just as a robust security culture allows an organization to adapt to new threats and challenges. Flexibility is key to staying ahead of potential risks. 3. Confidence Through Preparation: She practiced her exam routine over and over, allowing her to walk into the exam with confidence. Similarly, an employer who has invested in a strong security foundation—through training, technology, and planning—can confidently navigate the complexities of today’s threat landscape. 4. Continuous Improvement: Dancers know there's always room for growth. She is continuously refining her skills, just as companies must continually assess and improve their security measures. The pursuit of excellence is ongoing. 5. Focus and Awareness: Dance teaches the importance of focus and awareness of one’s surroundings. In security, this translates to being vigilant and aware of potential vulnerabilities, ensuring no threat goes unnoticed. The lesson here is clear: a solid base in any discipline leads to success. #SecurityFoundation #WorkplaceSafety #ContinuousImprovement #Leadership #FocusAndDiscipline #Habits #Traits #Leaders #Foundation
