A valuable forum reflecting on 50 years of the Australian community health program established by the Whitlam government. Learnings about the fate of community health in SA and NSW where there has been a lack of state government recognition and support. Lessons in demonstrating impact through routine data collection and evaluation to reverse this trend and strengthen the funding base Do we need evaluation evidence that is specific to community health.
