From building robots in sixth grade to becoming a Software Test and Simulation Engineer at Bosch, Mortada Kamareddine's journey began with the FIRST LEGO League. Competing with his school’s team in Lebanon, he gained essential problem-solving skills that shaped his future in STEM. Now, as a volunteer at Bosch’s LEGO League events, Mortada is giving back, helping students navigate the same challenges he once faced. He believes in the power of encouragement and hands-on learning to build confidence and drive success. With the tournament kicking off in October, Bosch is proud to support the next generation of innovators Learn more👇 https://bit.ly/4fRMgm7 #BoschUK #innovation #STEM

High school students can celebrate National Robotics Week (April 1-8) by diving into the dynamic world of robotics clubs! Here's why high school students should get involved: 🤖 Creative Construction: Students can design, build, program, and test their own robots. This hands-on approach deepens their understanding and memory of complex concepts. 💭 Innovative Problem-Solving: Robotics is all about creative solutions. Tackling challenges and sharpening critical thinking muscles are valuable skills in every aspect of life. ⚛️ A Fusion of Fields: Robotics is where science, technology, engineering, math (STEM), and the creative arts meet. 🤝 Collaborative Spirit: Robotics is a team sport. By collaborating with peers, students enhance their teamwork and communication skills – essential tools in high school, college, and future careers. By applying wisely, building confidence, and getting it right, I help students on their journey to college admission success. 👏 Big thanks back at you Fatima-zahra Benyaaqoub! 🙏 Your team's success is exactly why I contribute so much energy to supporting emerging leaders and fellows of the TechWomen program -- my efforts often pay off many times over! 📈 As you are aware, my passion is to bring STEM/STEAM education to youth around the globe, and the best chance I see for that is to teach the joy and utility of "physical computing". (My loose definition: the ability to electronically program a microcontroller chip -- the logical brain -- that is connected to sensors so that we can instrument our world to better understand it, and that can be connected to actuators, resulting in automation that can save resources and improve life on this magnificent planet.) 🌍 Big shout out to #MicroBlocks -- my favorite tool for teaching physical computing that ended up supporting your team to victory! 🎉 https://microblocks.fun
Congratulations! Fellow Fatima-Zahra Benyaaqoub of Morocco coached youth team 3andiBlasti to third prize victory for Project Innovation at the prestigious FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) Open European Championship (OEC) 2024 held in Bodø, Norway this spring. Fatima is founder and director of La Parenthèse Enchantée, a cultural and educational center that taught and lead 3andi Blasti to the world stage for their international victory. "What makes this project even more special is its noble objective: to empower refugee children to explore robotics through a kit adapted to their living conditions," Fatima shared in a celebratory post. "By winning this award, our young minds not only demonstrated their skills in science, technology, and engineering, but they also carried a message of hope and inclusion." The FLL is the largest international science and technology competition for children and youth. With a focus on merging art and technology, participants are tasked with a challenge called MASTERPIECE, engaging in research, problem-solving, coding and engineering. Part of the challenge involves programming a LEGO robot to navigate missions in a robot game and another is to complete a research project that identifies and solves a real-world problem. The competition is held in 110 countries, culminating in global tournaments that identify 50 final teams to present their work at the Open European Championship in Bodø. #TWIMPACT Https://https://lnkd.in/ebfDpCXw

<Personal post> Our local news featured my daughter, Sana Shah’s FIRST Robotics team, Flaming Chickens from Catlin Gabel School. The team recently competed at the World Robotics Championships in Houston after winning the Pacific Northwest championship among 127 teams. Overall, they emerged as the top 3% of the 3000+ teams worldwide (their personal best). What’s unique about their 70-person team is that high school students entirely design, fabricate, and program the robot. No 'adult' mentors can touch the robot. This self-imposed rule often can be a disadvantage in matches, but the learning experience is unmatched. Sana Shah is the co-president and the software manager of the team (the 70-person team is run like a company by the students). This year, she ended up working more on design (CAD). Proud of the team and my kiddo. Thanks kindly to the robotics director Kevin Forbes, coach Dale Yocum. Dean Kamen and the FIRST volunteers have started a robotics revolution in schools through the FIRST program. Sana or I would be happy to talk if you have a kid in elementary through high school and would like to learn about this program. Sana started with FIRST in 2nd grade (at a non-competitive, age-appropriate level). https://lnkd.in/dq7sF_wJ #morethanrobots #FIRST #Robotics

"The varsity sport for the mind.” Visit Mississauga and the The International Centre cannot wait to welcome the great minds of the over 3,000 students who will enjoy the highest level of team robotics - offered by FIRST Robotics Canada Competition 2024! FRC 2024 combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. Under strict rules, limited resources, and time limits, teams of 25 students or more are challenged to raise funds, design a team “brand,” hone teamwork skills, and build and program robots to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors. It’s as close to “real-world engineering” as a student can get. Volunteer professional mentors lend their time and talents to guide each team. https://lnkd.in/gmAQPR9h High-school students team up with the world’s best technology companies to build the most impressive robots you’ve ever seen. Built from scratch, these 5 foot tall, 140 pound robots compete in high intensity robo-sports. With bragging rights at stake for schools and the companies that support them, robotics takes on a pro-sports experience. Watch the best of the best in robotics come out to play. #meetingsmeanbusiness #education #studentathletes #stem #stemeducation #stemeducationforkids #edutravel Boeing the LEGO Group NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration John Deere 3M Dow FedEx
