As I celebrate my 2-year anniversary in Lekki Freeport Terminal (since joining in October 2022), i will like to tell a short story reflecting on My Two Years Experience at Lekki Freeport Terminal : A Lesson on Courtesy Two years ago, I began my experience at Lekki Freeport Terminal (LFT) as an intern, eager to make a mark in the maritime industry. On one of my first real assignments, I learnt a valuable lesson in an unexpected way. I was tasked with submitting a value proposition to my manager. Unfortunately, I didn’t meet the initial deadline. By the time I was ready, I was instructed to submit the report directly to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). As an intern just days into my role, I was both excited and nervous. I got to the office early, logged into Microsoft Teams, and began messaging the CCO without giving much thought to formalities. After sending a couple of messages, I received his first reply: "Ebuka, good morning." My heart froze. I quickly reviewed my previous messages and realized that I did not greet him in anyway. A moment later, his second message came, gently reminding me of the importance of starting conversations with greetings, especially in the morning and when it is your first interaction of the day. In that moment, I felt sad and defeated. I was trying to make a great first impression, yet missed something as fundamental as courtesy. It was a small mistake, but a powerful lesson that is stuck with me ever since. This taught me that, you never have a second chance to make the first impression and that it is the basics—like politeness and respect, that truly make a difference. My journey at LFT has been full of learning, relearning, and growth. Every challenge has brought new insights, and every mistake has been an opportunity to improve. I am incredibly grateful to my managers and colleagues, especially those like my manager and the CCO who have supported my development, helping me grow in the maritime profession. Looking forward to many more years of experiencing, learning and contributing to the success of Lekki Freeport Terminal and the maritime industry.

I am grateful to my team for entrusting me with important responsibilities and guiding me along the way! 🙏 Urs Hochuli Jacqueline Schütz I had the privilege to work on several exciting tasks: 📝 Creative: Create a comprehensive manual for all Postbus drivers across Switzerland, ensuring alignment with CI/CD guidelines. 🎯 Strategic: Contribute to a strategic goal for 2025-2028 by developing an action plan, conducting qualitative interviews, and designing a concept for visualizations. 📊 Analytical: Dive into data analysis, identifying key areas for improvement and defining KPIs for customer satisfaction. 🗂 Administrative: Manage internal communication, organize and schedule events, create LinkedIn posts 💡Key Learnings: - Understanding the corporate structure and its language is crucial for effective communication and collaboration. - Flexibility, attention to detail, and teamwork are essential for effectively navigating new challenges. - Time management and multitasking highlighted the importance of planning and self-discipline, which improved my organizational skills. - Most importantly, embracing mistakes as part of the learning process and practice kindness towards myself. Shaping the future together! 🚀☀️That was the central theme I highlighted at the Youth and Apprentice event this month. It was a fantastic opportunity to look back on the past year together and gain new perspectives. Therefore, I would like to share the following thoughts with you: 💭 As a guest speaker, I had the chance to give insight during the 'Coffee & Culture Talk☕️' with Konecranes executives on how we can further develop our company as a place for all generations. Throughout the year, there has also been active exchange on topics such as the new generation in the job market, corporate values, sustainability, diversity & inclusion. It's always enriching to receive new ideas and broaden my perspective. Because the exchange about challenges and ideas is crucial for our common future🌟 Prejudices against our generation, Gen Z, should not be generalized because we are diverse in our interests, values, and abilities. We are a generation full of energy and potential, deserving of support and recognition. As an #Liftfluencer🪝🔗 and part of Generation Z, I firmly believe that together with all generations, we can shape the future. Therefore, I urge you to let us use our talents, learn from each other and support one another to succeed as a team. Started my master thesis internship at DSV - Global Transport and Logistics on the first of February. During this time I will research and develop a standardized model for customers of DSV to use e-platforms as a sales channel.
