Winning an Award: It's More Than Just the Trophy! Did you know that winning an award opens doors far beyond the accolade itself? it's not just about the moment of victory; there's a whole world of extras that come with it, often overlooked but incredibly valuable. Take, for example, the opportunity to be featured in prestigious publications – a benefit that's worth its weight in gold. Normally, securing a spot in a leading magazine can be costly, but winning an award can land you that coveted space for free. And it's not just any advertisement; it's a feature that celebrates your achievement, adding an extra layer of credibility and recognition. So, the next time you're considering entering an award, remember it's not just about the win – it's about the journey and the doors it opens.

Happy Monday! A week or so ago, I was judging the Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards. Now the tables have turned, as I started this week by finalising my submissions for the 2024 ROAR Awards. When I first started my business, the idea of entering business awards made me feel ick. But now I see the value of entering them. They're definitely a great way to review the ups and downs I've had in my business. Do you enter business awards? #businessawards #businessowner

What’s an award worth these days? In the age of participation trophies and endless accolade inflation, it seems like everyone has a shiny statue to show off. But let’s be honest, do these awards truly represent excellence, or are they just another checkbox in the race for recognition? Don’t get me wrong, being acknowledged feels great, but when every other post is about yet another ‘industry award,’ it makes you wonder about the real value behind these honors. Are they driving genuine innovation and setting industry standards, or simply boosting egos and marketing campaigns? Maybe it’s time we shift our focus from collecting accolades to creating real impact. After all, true success isn’t measured by the number of trophies on your shelf, but by the difference you make and the legacy you leave behind. #IndustryThoughts #RealImpact #BeyondAwards

What a JOYFUL Tuesday afternoon seeing this land into our inbox, right after the day our Chief Storyteller 🎙 Ryan Fowler shares his new personal brand! There's so much value to business awards and not for the obvious reasons. Yes, you get some great recognition in your industry, but for those who have never entered an awards submission before, here's what we learned through the experience. This is not our first time entering an award, it's also not our first time being a finalist (although it would be the first time winning 😉 😉 ). Entering awards is an incredibly valuable exercise because when you do it right, it forces you to look back at your business over the past 12 or so months and celebrate and share the achievements you've had, the good you've done and the goals you've crushed. It's not often in business that this reflection time is something we actively do, so if you need a little nudge to enter that next business award, this is it. #finalist #businessnsw #businessawards

Hints and Tips... Who's judging a particular award can be a good way to ascertain just how prestigious and credible a particular award is. Questions you might like to ask yourself are; 1. Is the judge a previous winner and if so what experience and prejudices are they bringing to the judging table? 2. Is the judge also a sponsor of the awards they're judging? If so does this give them anymore say-so than any other judge? 3. Is the judge also entering the awards (either individually or via their business) and if so how is that being treated by the award organisers? What you're looking for is clear judging criteria and transparency thereby ensuring you know your nomination will get as fair an opportunity as anyone else around that table (virtual or otherwise). Don't be afraid to ask questions. Entering (and winning!) awards takes time. Make sure you invest it wisely gaining the maximum benefit for your efforts. Do you have a question for us? If so ask away and we'll endeavour to answer them as quickly as we can.
